I'd just go get the deer. I wouldn't let that guy get to me, and if you already know that he will not permit you to enter and retrieve your deer, I wouldn't bother asking.

Asking him just puts him on notice of where you hunt, where you'd like to enter, and it lets him know roughly where the deer is laying. Less said, less mended.

I respect property rights until I have a wounded animal. At that point, I trespass as necessary, doing no damage, leaving no litter behind, just going to retrieve the downed game.

If reasonable, I would even drag it out of the neighbor's property to field dress it. I treat others' property the way I treat my own. I would never stop a hunter from retrieving (or attempting to retrieve) a downed or wounded animal from my property, and I take the same approach conversely.

Me too, like Lung Buster says, just sneak in and get what's yours!

If it were me I would not even ask if you know he will say no. I would discreetly and quietly retrieve my deer and get the heck out of dodge!!! Good luck this year and hopefully your animal will not travel to far!!

Just wondering if any of you sneaks would think its ok to hunt out of my stands when I am not using them,How about my truck,I have an extra one that I dont use all the time.Or do you just go by rules, morals & ethics that suit you at the time.

I would like to know what kind of Business you're in. With all your land and yourmultitude of vehicles, sitting around unused , you must be awfully well off.
However your limited vocabulary and poor interpersonal skills, leads me to believe you, must work alone...or maybe inherited well.

As for hunting out of your stand ..nah..not me, I doubt you could pick a good spot to hang one. But if ya did get lucky and and find a good spot..when you looked just across the property line..that would be me smiling at ya with a big moron grin!

I sent the question to my State DNR office, my question is in blue, obviously, their reply in red.

If an animal is shot on private owned property, andthe animal is shot and traveled across the property line, is the deer un retrievable if the neighboring landowner does not give you permission to look for and retrieve the deer?
Hello:Unfortunately, yes. You may not track or retrieve deer on property without written permission. Thank you for your interest and have a great day. I would be seriously upset with the neighboring landowner but there isnt much you can do unless you do it illegally. Would I personally try and retrieve it? Hell yeah I would People like bawanajim talk a big talk behind a keybaord and show their input and views should be disregarded basedon his intelligent comments, or lack thereof. Wether he wouldnt allow anyone to retrieve the animal or not is irrelevant, its the way he replies, responds and talks down to others that makes him that much less credible IMHO.
