DD,
Year before last I took a button buck that I would have bet the farm was a doe.

I let the small bucks walk and take the does so I was sick at heart for a week.

This little guy was only 25 yards and I didn't see the buttons from there so at 40 i'm sure it was tough to make out a small rack.}

As for your year being over, If you have doe tags,hunt meat instead of horns and just enjoy being there.

Take the camera and tape the bucks. Also, take the bow and shoot the does, you still have 10 tags left.

im with them if you got 10 doe tags left dont let that get in the way! maybe take binos and watch them come in through there if possible to identify them...i shoot a button buck i would have bet everything it was a doe and so would my dad standing beside me and the deer was MAYBE 10 ft away at the most! stuff happens....take that as a lesson and look more carefully...i wouldnt quit hunting for the year though!

I wasn't complaining, just sharing what happened. I am proud of my harvests. both are on video, and i feel like i made two good shots, but That still does not take the sting out of killing a small deer when management has been going on for several years and there are known to be several really big bucks on our lease. No one is complaining, I look foward to videoing my dad and hunting buddies and consider myself lucky to live in a state with a limit of 10 does. Thank you all for your input.
