being relatively inexperienced at deer hunting, I've read alot of articles and what I could get my hands on to make me better. I've read alot obout needing to use rubber boots to reduce scent. What would be the difference between that and spraying down you regular hunting boots?I've never really read what the difference would be.

I would think that you could miss a spot with your regular boots and/or the scent killing application could eventually wear off. Rubber doesn't hold scent very well so you would not have to worry about something similar happening with them. If I had to take a guess that is.

I don't think rubber boots eliminate your scent completlybut they do carry less scent then regular boots. I wear them mostly because you can walk through anything without getting your feet wet or caked with mud. And the new rubber/neoprene boots are very light and super comfrotable to wear and walk in.

I have tagged a lot of deer before I started wearing rubber boots so I think the advantage is minimal on the scent control. I am sure they give you a little edge and that is what we are all looking for.

Your feet are constantly creating human oder. After you spray your non-rubber boots down and walk to your stand, the oder created during that time can still leak out onto anything along the trail. Rubber doesn't allow that to happen. The key is to be careful what you touch with any part of your body as you walk.
Sometimes no matter what you do, you just get busted. Part of the hunt. The biggest factor of all is the wind. Keep it in your face.

I used to wear rubber boots, but hated them. I stopped wearing them a few years ago and have not noticed any difference at all for the number of deer scene or deer winding me. One thing that I have noticed is that I am al lot more comfortable and my Danner's provide an aweful lot more support and warmth then any rubber boot out there.
One thing that I have always heard is that a person should avoid perspiring and should use fabrics which wick perspiration away from the body, especially in cold weather. I have evenheard this form people who swear by rubber boots. Now when I used to take my rubber boots off, I could always expect some very wet feet. Things that make you go Hmmmm.......
