Default Mushrooms vs white oaks

I somewhat baffle this year, we have had a drought all summer and although the mast crop did well the white oaks are falling early(still full grown). But in the last month we have had several inches of rain and cloudy skies causing mushrooms to pop up everywhere especially in the planted pines which are numerous around here.
Anytime the white oaks are falling its always the number one food source around here, but I have not seen anywhere near the normal activity around them. Could it be because they are bitter due to them falling early or do deer favor the mushrooms more.

Not sure about in your area, but I watched a doe yesterday feeding under a group of white oaks for nearly an hour. Unfortunately, she was just outside of my bow range.
