Ok.. Just finished watching a "Knockout Hunting Adventures" 30 min hunting show(really a drawlock infomercial) with this kid shooting a drawlocked bow.
First of all I think it is great that this product shows how we can get children bow hunting. This was a 10 year old kid and he just did what he was told so I have no problem with him. He killed a doe and it was cool to sit there with my daughter and let her watch another kid hunt.
Here were the problems:
[ul][*]All through the hunt this kid is spouting all this stuff sounding like a big hunter celebrity. Anyone with a brain could tell that this kid was just spitting out what they told him to say.[*]Then the kid shootsthe deer and it’s a bad shot that anyone could see. It was about 3 inches from going over the deer and right in the middle of the deer’s body. So on to the so called tracking job. This 10 year old was still being scriptedand saying “he won’t be far.. Look at all the blood on the arrow" and a bunch of other crap that they are obviously making him say. Then he gets to the deer. The camera is behind it and he does the old fake "oh there he is" BS. Then you see a shot of the deer with the hole in just like I had thought(described above) and theses idgets have the nerve to have the kid say "it was a perfect shot". WHAT THE CRAP!!!!!! My 4 year old daughter is sitting there all excited that the kid killed adeer and says "ooo look daddy perfect shot". That got all over me ![*]Finally, this yahoo could not even make up his mind what poundage bow this kid was shooting. Early in the show he said it was 75 lbs. Then in the last segment he’s goes on talking about the kid’s ability to effectively hunt with an 80lb bow.[/ul]
Notonly do they think we are blind they must think we are dumb as well. Or maybe its just they are blind and dumb.. Or just plain liars.
With the recent posts about shows and some guys syaing they dont watch anymore I am now beginning to understand why.

hew was using a drawlock.. a device that lets u effectively "cock" the bow. It holds it at full draw for you until you hit the trigger. Almost turns it into a verticle crosswow.

To someone who's Hunted ........... its fake from the get go.
For someones who'd NEVER hunted ? Its just the normal way it all goes during a Hunting Trip.
Hunting shows, for the most part, are BAD for Hunting.

No way he was shooting a 75 lbs bow unless someone was drawing it for him, I don't care if he has the drawlock or not! I shoot 60 lbs and he couldn't draw that!

What I want to know is, where did they come up with a bow that draws 75-80 pounds at a child's draw length? Smells like BS to me. But I think you missed the point. The video wasn't so much aimed at selling drawlocks to get kids started. It was more for showing adults, "See what this kid did with our product? Surely you can do what a 10 year old can do, so buy our piece of junk."
I was watching a video, some time ago,. that was hawking one of the popup ground blinds. A kid, I think he was 12, took a couple of turkeys and, if I remember correctly, a deer from the blind. That youngster was shooting a recurve, and shooting it VERY well. He did make perfect shots. He was a lot better shot than his dad was, in fact.

Sound like another great show. I have quit watching hunting shows all together, mainly because OLN is covering the Tour de France, but mostlyfor the fact thatI am to bussy. I would love to have a show that I could sit down evey week and watch and actuly enjoy.
