I am very fortunate. Myparents just moved into a house inBradford County, PA. Next to their house, 2 other members of my family own2 other houses all next to eachother on a dirt road that is a big loop in a very small town.

One of the housesbelongs to my great aunt, but now no longer is occupied since she is in an elderly care facility. It is a 8 bedroom house with 12 beds in it and is absolutely beautiful with fireplaces in almost all the bedrooms, and working electric, plumbing, and cable TV.........all on the end of a dirt road that shoots off the main loop road the rest of my family lives on. There is only about 85 acres between the different members of our family, however this is a wooded patch that serves as a travel corridor between major agricultural areas and open fields. It holds more deer than your average 80 acre patch. It has multiple ponds, an apple orchard, a swamp, many mature hardwood patches (white and red oaks), as well as a ton of cedars and other softwoods in the swamp. We also have access to another 200-300 acres from the surrounding neighbors that is neverhunted during bow season, and very lightly during rifle season by guys that show up at 10am and hunt till noon.

This is the first year that this will serve asour camp, and a place to stay for when family and friends come to hunt or visit. No one has really hunted it for probably 10+ years, but my scouting so far has shown a LOT of deer, and about 3 bucks that would qualify as a "shooter" in my book. The next door neighbor also owns probably 150 or so acres, and he has tons of food plots over there, and has harvested a 17 point nontypical and huge 140" class 8 point in the last 2 years. I also hunted it during spring turkey this season and it is absolutely loaded with turkeys, there are 10-15 mature toms that are on my game cameras almost every day.

I bowhunt mostly after work a couple times a week and weekends on my father in laws property, but try not to pressure the area to much ,when I think that I am, I lay off it for a week or so.Also bowhunt my unc's place downstate a day or two before the opening of first firearms season then slug hunt the firearms season.I pretty much hunt for the freezer at my unc's place and usually take a guest or my brother. For some reason durring the firearms season I like to have someone to hunt with and durring archery I kind of like to lone it.

Fast forward 30 - 35 years. I am now 44 years old, living in Richmond, VA, and in my fourth season of hunting. I hunt public lands and state forests (along with everyone else ) and yearn to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I mean, if I have to drive 4 - 5 hours the night before and hole up in a motel somewhere, just to get in some prime hunting the next morning - I'll do it. ANYTHING just to get away and get off the beaten path.

I hunt with my brother in Va. and have discussed going to the bottom of the state and hunt in the national forest. We have been told that if you get a mile back, it's all yours. Give it a shot and let us know. We don't have plans to do it anytime soon.

I bow hunt on private land, alone. I would rather hunt with a party, or at least a couple of different people, but the landowner only wants me on his land, so I can live with that. Bow season starts in mid September, and runs thru the end of December. I gun hun for 4 days in the middle of November with the landowner, he dont bow hunt, but he likes to gun hunt, but he dont want to hunt alone, cant blame him.

Well, my hunting is going to drastically change this year. I am 23 years old currently in the Air Force and I live in south Georgia. My home town is located in SE Wisconsin. The past few years I would take about 25 days of vacation and go back to Wisconsin and bow hunt about 5 days and then rifle hunt 6. I normally couldnt hunt much because I never get to see family and friends so I had to spend some time with them. All the hunting I do is on county land in Black River Falls, WI. I know alot of people dont like public land but I love it. I get deep in the woods and its like my own deer haven back in the swamps. The last few years I have seen at least one buck that would go over 140 p&y. Last year I took a big 12 point that should score in the 150's to 160. I normally bow hunt with my Dad, cousin, and best friend. Gun season normally is between 5-10 people, all family and some friends.
Now this year I live in Georgia after moving from Japan. Now I will be able to hunt WMA's, on base, and my friends lease. Finally I can bow hunt how I want for months. I will still take my vacation to WI because nothing compares to hunting those big northern deer in snow or frosty mornings. The only bad thing now is I am in Iraq and cannot scout until late August which sucks. Oh well, at least I can hunt and not worry about getting shot at like over here.
I uploaded the picture of the 12 pointer that I shot last year.Hopefully it worked. My cousin picked it up since I am in Iraq and he is the one holding it. I love public land

I hunt with my brother (occasionally my father too) during rifle season. No camp, don't own any land. Unfortunately the land we have access to we can'tput up stands so we haven't stepped into bowhunting yet, but we are both dying to. So this year my goal is to gain exclusive access to more land, get some stands up, get a bow and start practicing. Won't be ready for this year's archery season, but hopefully next.

I moved to where I hunt. My back property line is Hoosier National Forrest and there isn't a road for about 4 or 5 miles to the south of me.

I also have some private land w/i about 5 miles to hunt on exclusivly.

Soon as I step off the porch, I'm hunting.

Last year my hunting changed with the birth of my daughter. No long weekends or all day Saturday hunts. So I started taking Fridays off so i could get out all day without worrying about family obligations.

Now it depends on where I am hunting. I usually go solo if I am hunting public land which is about 85% of the time. Taking time off during the week to hunt public land is the best thing I ever did. I never saw another hunter unless it was opening day for M/L or shotgun season.

If I am on my friends 11 acres, then we hunt together. He usually doesn't buy a license so is restricted to his own property.
