Ever use blocking scents to steer deer to you?

I was just over reading T.R. Michels' site and read about blocking scents, where you use something with strong human (or dog) odor to steer deer towards you. For example, if there are several paths that a deer could use, you place dirty socks or whatever on a few of the paths in hopes that the deer will avoid those and use the one you decided to set up on. I have read about putting brush in a trail to divert a deer's path to the one you want to use, but have never heard of this approach.
Has anyone used it, or know of anyone that has? If so, how did it work?

I haven't used it myself but I have heard of several folks who have used that stinky sock technique with limited success. Beyond that I cannot comment.

Don,t waist your time. When that deer smells a danger it,s not going to go sideways and get on another trail. Just as I am sure you have seen time after time they do a 180 and get the hell out of dodge!

I used socks to keep deer away from a jerks stand that set up a stand 250 yds away from me just over the crest of a hill .
It worked .
I know public areas are open to anyone but it was gun season and I was always in my stand before he even got to the trail head.
So I made sure he never got a shot.
When you have lots of square miles to hunt why set up right next to another guy??
