Pretty much the same as you, top it all off with Scent Killer while in the treestand but mostly, simply watch the wind.

Well im very catious on my scent when I go into the woods. I wash my clothes in a scent free detergent with a cup full of baking soda. I usually hang outside and let them air dry unless its raining then I use dryer. once dry I put my clothes in a plastic bag ( clear ) I recently purchased these bags that has a fitting that u can hook your vacum cleaner to and suck out all the air. I then wash my stand, boots, and bow. When season comes around I look like cojack, I shave my head right to the bone. I wash in a scent free detergent and have a towel that has been washed in a scent free detergent to dry off with, I never fuel the truck up in the morning and never smoke. my hunting gear has never seen anything but the woods I hunt in. except for my bow. I use arm n hammer unscented deodorant also. I pour baking soda into my rubber boots and apply to face. when at the site I take my time and try not to break a sweat. if its hot I usually go to stand without my jacket on and once in stand I then put it on. before I leave the truck and make sure everything is ready, I take 2 earth scent wafers and apply one to each side of my boots. I then apply a earth scent or a scent eliminating spray to my bow, pits, and areas that might produce alot of scent. I spray gloves before I go up into the stand so I dont leave any scent on steps if im hunting in my portable. after climbing up into the stand (climber) I spray down once more. I take a earth wafer off one of my boots and hook to my utility rope and then lower to about 3 ft off the ground. I recently purchased a scent lok face mask thats helps on any mouth odor I also rinse and brush teeth with baking soda. Im saving for the scent lok suit but until then I will repeat this procedure over and over. If I sweat alot I will wash that night and hang outside to dry and repeat. as far as the leaves in your yard I think you should collect from your hunting site. Becuz u never know what kind of animal has stopped to relieve hisself. and the leaves from your area are natural. I think i do pretty good with this procedure, Ive had 7 deer right under my stand at one time. I killed my 9 pt from about 10yds out as the same for thew 8pt. you know youve done your job when a deer walks up the same trail u just came in on. sorry so long, you asked and im telling i think im leaving something out.............GOOD LUCK

My best stratigy for scent control is alot of preseason scouting trying to determine the pattern of the deer movements. Next I try to determine the best possible route to the stand without crossing any deer travel corridors so I am not leaving my scent where it can be picked up. Wind is another big consideration. If the wind isn't right I save that place for another day. Therefore, have multiple stand sites for different wind directions. Lastly, go thru the pain of picking that 'perfect' tree for your stand. Good concealment of the stand is crutial. Even if a deer does catch a whiff of something, if he can't find you you still got a good chance of getting a shot before getting busted.
For a scent, sometimes I use nature's scents. Rolling a few green pine needles in your hands and rubbing the smell onto your clothes, using cedar greenery, whatever is natural in the area that your traveling to and from your stand seems to work good.
Sorry guys, I'm not one of the hunters that is very big on store bought scent control over-the-shelf items but for me, by following the methods I have described, I only get busted by deer on rare ocassions, like maybe two or three times a year of the most.
Good hunting to all...

SOMETHING NEW I LEARNED JUST THE OTHER DAY--- WHEN CLIMBING INTO YOUR STAND WEAR RUBBER OR LATEX GLOVES. THEN CHANGE TO HUNTING GLOVES. I FOUND THAT TO BE VERY INTERESTING.

That is a very good question, there are all kinds of scents on the market.Like the rest of the hunters i also use bakeing soada on everything, when i get into the woods i grab leaves, grass, even some dirt to cover my scent, then i use vanilla evtract around my stand i will hunt,do not use too much, just a little drop there and here,i do not know why the deer seen to like it so much, but i have kill many deer over my life span (54) my uncle taught me to use it,so try all of this things, works for me,good luck

The single most effective scent is your own. Keep it 20-25 feet high and down wind of the deer. No exceptions and you'll do just fine. All the rest of the stuff is eye wash. Yes you should wash and keep your clothes clean, but that won't beat a deers nose if the wind is wrong. If canines can smell pot and C-4 through plastic wrap, foil wraps and in a suit case... what makes anyone think a deer can't smell through shampoo.

I agree with shortdraw - if the wind is not in your favor, a whitetail will always be able to tell that something is not quite right. I do wear rubber boots, take a shower everytime before I go out and air out my camo. The only scent control that I use are the hunter specialities earth scent wafers. Last weekend, I had three bucks under my stand at the same time (two six's and an eight - I passed on these to let them grow) and they were down wind at times. These deer never became aware of my presence. I save the earth scent
wafers every year and will use up to 6 - 9 of these all around me in the stand. I have been downwind many times and 95% of the time the deer do not pay attention to me. I think these wafers do enough to mask my scent (never eliminate it). The other 5% of the deer will stop at some point and usually turn around because something is not quite right - usually these are the BIG BOYS. The only pain with these scent wafers is trying to find where you placed them in the dusk hours and you have to put them back into a sealed container so they can "refresh themselves".
