Default RE: whats your best "SCENT" strategy

My best stratigy for scent control is alot of preseason scouting trying to determine the pattern of the deer movements. Next I try to determine the best possible route to the stand without crossing any deer travel corridors so I am not leaving my scent where it can be picked up. Wind is another big consideration. If the wind isn't right I save that place for another day. Therefore, have multiple stand sites for different wind directions. Lastly, go thru the pain of picking that 'perfect' tree for your stand. Good concealment of the stand is crutial. Even if a deer does catch a whiff of something, if he can't find you you still got a good chance of getting a shot before getting busted.

For a scent, sometimes I use nature's scents. Rolling a few green pine needles in your hands and rubbing the smell onto your clothes, using cedar greenery, whatever is natural in the area that your traveling to and from your stand seems to work good.

Sorry guys, I'm not one of the hunters that is very big on store bought scent control over-the-shelf items but for me, by following the methods I have described, I only get busted by deer on rare ocassions, like maybe two or three times a year of the most.

Good hunting to all...
