Ok, it's established that this guy has little back bone. If he had any self respect he'd have had the story worded different to tell the truth and not sensationalize this pot shot. Or maybe he did. I've been interviewed several times by reporters both domestic and international and they've never told the story I was telling. A reporter will do one of two things to a story, A: down play it or B: Jazz it up, they're never in the middle where the truth lives. Maybe this guy did tell the whole story but what you read is reporter "B" version cause the truth just wouldnt make good copy.
Bottom line, the guy made a clean, legal, one shot kill with a bow on an immense animal. If he's a likeable guy and doesnt come off like a kook then this is a good "thing" for bowhunting in general. Sure anyone with some bowhunting experience like on this board is going to see through this guy in an instant but a story like this shuts up the tree-hugging-berkensok-wearing-anti-hunting crowd cause he killed it with one clean shot. It also looks good to the gun only hunters considering trying bow hunting, "if that guy killed a boar that big with one arrow, I can probably kill a whitetail with one..."
IF you want to do anything I'd go to his bow shop and casually engage him in a conversation about it. If he brags about it then shut him up with the facts as you stated above. If he's lookin at his shoes when he's telling you about it, he's not pround of it either and you can both have a good laugh.

Thanks for the input. I have written to the "hunter" and to the outdoors writer. I have also written a letter for the editorial page, but I doubt that they will print it, and I am still unsure about wether it would do more harm than good.
In the letter that I sent the writer, I told him of this fraud and that he should research his articles before publishing them. Also told him that if he was party to this fraud that he too should be ashamed of himself, and warned him of the damage that this stuff can do to our sport.
If the truth of this story were told, there would really be NO story. The "hunter" just basically butchered a hog. Not much different than a farmer would, only he shot it with a bow. He did not "stalk" nor did he "hunt" this animal.
So, there would really be no story. Just that he proudly posed with his kill and made it sound like a great hunt! He was just making a name for himself, and getting a free advertisement for his shop and the game farm!
