D-man, If you're comfy with your bow, of course that's all that matters. I hunt with my own handmade wooden bows. Actual monetary cost is about zero dollars, though I invest a great deal of time in them. They have plenty of energy to kill anything in North American. (Primitive peoples have been doing it for ten of thousands of years.) Since I'm on such the low-tech end of things, most guys think my style of hunting is kind of neat, but there's always the few who give me a look of, "you shoot that?". Don't sweat it. Shoot what you like and have fun with it.

d-man,
i guess i'm guilty of pushing the bowtech line, but not to sale them because i'm not a dealer, and not because i think mine is better. i just like mine so good i want every one to have one.some of the guys that you hear say this might be like me. i guess the bad ones put a bad taste in your mouth and it makes a man dislike them all.my dealer pushes the bowteck line pretty hard ,but he likes this line and believes in it.

I believe that the shooter makes the bow work, not the other way around. Yes, there are bows that can help a shooter, but it still comes down to a shooter's ability. Showing up high priced bow shooters with a cheaper bow can be a blast.

I just bought a mathews Q2 back in april only because I got a real good deal on it. since ive bought it thats all ive been shooting to get ready for this year. But before the mathews I had a pse beast and I think I paid about 350.00 give or take a few dollars on the whole set up. And I use to shoot with guys that owned there new mathews bows
and they would do the same thing try to talk me into a new bow. Until we started shooting and I would shoot better than they did. then they would look at there mathews a diff. way. I think it all has to do with you and the bow, Practice, Practice, and Practice. when you get comfortable with your equipment your flawless. Ive killed a couple deer with that pse also. Now im starting over with the mathews and dont get me wrong its a real change from what I was shooting, its smoother, faster, and quiet (alot better). I think if your happy with your bow, who cares what everyone else thinks as long as you hit your mark and your satisfied. thats all that matters.

What it really boils down to has nothing to do with the actual archery equipment. It has everything to do with smart aleck, egotistical, guys with small sex organs. (that is the nicest thing I can think of to say about them and not have this post edited by the mods.lol) I've been thru the same exact thing you have. These guys think they are Fred Bear and that everyone else is an idiot.
The only thing I can say is, try to find another bow shop. These know-it-all types are abundant in the sport of archery. They are also the guys who like to pound their chest and tell the world how ethical they are. To be honest these guys are the main reason that I rarely visit this bow hunting msg board anymore. (I'm only talking about a few guys here and some of them are probably gone by now)
I am now driving about 15 minutes further to an archery shop but they are awesome. They don't care what bow you shoot or what brand of equip. you have it rigged out with. The owner told me that unlike other shops he isn't going to insult the people who are coming into his shop to spend their hard earned money. He also doesn't let the know-it-all's types hang around his place.

I think it's got more to do with confidence then the bow itself. I had a Indian something or rather my first 4 years of hunting. Man that was a cheap bow and it was slooow. But I was confident, I could shoot really really well with it. Every shot was a pass through and well placed. Last year I upgraded to a q2 and I like the bow but I shot more consistenly with my old bow and I shot more acurately with it too. Go figure. One thing for sure, when I saw a deer coming and I was going to get a decent shot. I KNEW I was going to get that deer. That's all you need.
I can't stand the local archery shop. They see my $20 tough man rest and they give me crap every time. Whenever I can I will drive about 40 minutes to go to Bwana Archery in Little Canada, MN. Good guys there.

I have experienced those types around here before. For quite awhile I just grit my teeth and put up with it. The reason? There were very few around here at that time. There are several that have sprung up here and there, some better than others. I only use the "better" shops around here if I run into a problem that I can't figure out and correct on my own. Over the years, this dumb ol' country boy learned and taught himself how to do much of the work required.

I shoot a mathews...and most of the guys I shoot with have no idea how much a mathews bow cost. Some guys shoot a $50 bow...others shoot a $150 bow. They might pass out if they even knew there was a $700 bow...LOL! Oh...by the way....we have a great time shooting!
I shot my first bow for 15 years...an old bear whitetail II...now it's my sons!
