Default Camo patterns

How do the big camo companies make their money with all the licensees? Is it a flat rate fee, then they buy the material from their factory, or do the licensees pay a royalty for every yard of fabric they produce?

Thanks for any help on this!

I'm helping a buddy of mine develop a pattern and he doesn't have a clue how he's going to market it and the "big guys" aren't too quick to give out anyinfo. Thanks for your help!
