OK guys i talked to rage over the phone, for any of you who like the rage blades. There is good news and bad.
The bad news is, the newest models of the rage 2 blade is the one with the roll pin in them. And these are the ones that fall apart after hitting bone because it closes the gap on the roll pin. If yours has a screw, this is the older models. The replacement blades come with screws and roll pins.
Good news is rage is aware of this problem and they are working to correct it. Also, if you want you can send any broadhead back to them and they will replace it for free. Doe not matter where you purchased it from.
So the real question is, how much will you deal with to get a serious cut in the animal you hunt?
Tips:
Roll pins, closing up and dropping out issue. You can take a center punch to the end of the roll pin to flare it just a bit so if the slot closes off it will not fall out.
Screws: If you strip out the hole, the replacement blade packs have pins and screws. So use a roll pin in it after you get a strip screw and use center punch to flare the ends of it.
This is a small fix i found that works for now. and you can still change blades later by using a small drive punch to get the roll pins out after you have flared them.
Well, thats all we got guys and gals, until rage corrects the problem somehow.

In the past two weeks I've been asked to help track two bucks shot with Rage 2 blades by two different guys, we couldn't find either of them. I can't speak for the shots as I never saw them, but one was a pass through from lung to liver, the second was straight into the shoulder with very limited penetration (he guessed 2-3 inches) we never found the arrow.
The first had very limited blood from the start (we waited 4 hours), we made it about 300 yards to an alfalfa field and lost the track he only stopped 2x and never laid down. Three other guys went back and did a grid the next day. I believe this was a non-fatal shot, so the broadhead was possibly not to blame.
The second had great blood (lung)for about 80 yards, then just specks here and there. Ended up going about 1 1/2 miles over two days on this sparse track. He crossed a beanfield that had been cut during our search. Gridding on the other side brought nothing. Bad shots? Coincidence? Bows not tuned properly? I'm not sure, but it does not improve my confidence that this is a great head like some report. I think the inherent accuracy of this (and similar mechanicals) allows some hunters with poorly tuned bows to shoot where their field points are going, but the arrow isn't traveling straight. Thoughts?

I dont think pourly tuned bows are the answer to how the heads fly.
In bow hunting mag, they tested 16 or 18 broad heads and mechanicals.
The rage was the only one they commented on saying "they do fly like field tips"
So, in reading this i tested it was well. They do fly like my field points.
But this doesnt mean it will do the same on others bows.
Only thing i see so far with these heads is the roll pin holding the blade gets lose and falls out making the blades fall off. But can easily be fixed by flaring the ends of the pin. Course we should not have to do this in the first place. I seriously will deal with this small issue just to see how nice of a cut i can get in a deer.

I was hoping these thing would work because they fly so well. Got a new bow and it at 65# 305FPS so I was not sure on how the Muzzys would fly.
So I got the Rage bug, Now Im pissed shot a 6pt buck last night, hit high but still should have done the job, roll bin broke on impact.[:@]found one of the blades on the ground with hair but no blood, arrow past all through.Tracked a drip drip blood trail for about 100yds. then dried up. Looked for the deer 3 1/2 hours last night and 4 hours this morning, Im sick and pissed, a lost 4 hours of work, and no deer. Does anyone have the e-mail address?
