Frank.
A great report.
But like Phil I like the 65% let off and small valley.
I have also come to grips with the new grip as well (pun intended) it took a bit of getting used to tho.
I also get the same comments from people about how fast it is then when I tell them it is only a 60# with a 28" draw with 370gr arrows they look at me with amazement.
Shoot I have had to prove the arrow weight and poundage to a couple of guys

Just in case Kevin S is reading this

DONT CHANGE ANYTHING[:-]

Well I' ve got some new numbers! At 71.5 pounds and with the 29 inch modules, cat whiskers on the string in place of the Hush puppies, a tied in nock, served in place eliminator button for a kisser and an eliminator button under the arrow nock. A CX hunter 400 weighing 457.4 grains went 286 for 83.10 ft. p. e. A xx78 2315 weighing 523.3 grains went 269 fps for 83.70 ft.p.e. And a xx75 2317 weighing 581.4 grains went 255 fps fpr 83.97 foot pounds of energy. This bow is not fot the wimp! When you draw this one back, you know that something very serious is about to happen!!! I don' t need anything any faster than this and I might end up hunting with 2419' s this year.

great report Frank. I had a chance to draw (but not shoot) the Patriiot duel cam at the Harrisburg show. My impression was as most people when first drawing this bow and hitting the wall. The valley WAS short and right at the wall. No creep tuning this cam. I know they have improve this cam from previous years but like you said moving the valley and shoftening the cam a touch would take the bite out of of it. Other than that Bowtech has a great line of bows for a variety of shooters. JERRY

wwag, I' m with you on the heavier arrow. Mine at 55# shoots 288 with a 365 gr arrow. I can slow it down to 250-260 with a heavier arrow, and start shooting through the trees that are always in my way.
Russell, glad to hear you' ve come to grips with something. Pat told me to say that.

Great review/report Frank! I still haven' t got to shoot one yet.[>:] In fact I haven' t got to shoot any 2003 bow from any company. The shop that I used to do a lot of my research at is suspiciously missing.

What I would really like to know is this. You usually change your bows as often as some people change their socks. What is the fate of your Dually Patriot? Have you finally found the " archer' s soulmate" or is this another " love' em and leave' em" relationship?

great report PA,

Your conclusion seems to be the same as mine.

A great, quite, super fast, forgiving bow thats just to touchy at full draw to feel comfortable hunting with.

Next year when they make it in 75% letoff I will buy another

I have to get accustomed to this new format. It once was so easy to just scroll down on the same window to find previous responses and answer them so it may take me a little longer to respond to all of them. I apologize ahead of time for missing any.

Big Country,

Definitely true. The draw cycle is probably the chief contributor to all that speed. It did become more and more manageable over time and I would not have a problem using it provided the valley was a bit bigger.

Cpahunter,

Thank you. That is the whole purpose for me to put these together....to provide and accurate depiction of my experience with the bow. It may differ from what others experience but it is a truthful depiction of what I thought of the bow.

As for the comparison...as has been made mention of in several subsequent posts...

On both " stock" bows....

The Razortec is quieter.
The Patriot is faster.
The Razortec has a smoother draw cycle.
The Patriot is slightlymore stable.

Both bows are extremely accurate overall and I could find no apparent difference in the quality of the construction of the bows. Components on the other hand only show their true nature over time. As I don' t tend to own many bows for an extended period of time I cannot comment on the reliability of either bow' s components unless I have owned a similar model previously.

Jeff,

Yes. I think you could say that. . I feel very lucky to have been in the position to try both of these bows relatively soon after they were first introduced. I think they are the " cream of the crop" in terms of what I have seen and tried so far from the 2003 lineup. But, there are so many bows out there and so little time...

Cajun and PDQ,

You two just illustrated my point. A person can look at my experience from a variety of different perspectives. It is really how we choose to perceive those experiences that make them positive and negative. That is why I try to fully explain my preconceived notions before going into any explanation of my findings. Thank you both for the comments.

Two Beards,

I am glad to help. Let me know what you eventually decide on and why.

Ausie,

Yes. The saying " different strokes for different folks" would apply in this instance...but then again you might never know if they new valley that they might introduce will feel better unless you try it...

Related to your second comment, I had to go through the same discussion with some guys at the local 3D shoot. They just could not figure out why I could not get my arrows out of the Mckenzies even with slick lube....

WWAG,

Those are some pretty impressive numbers and right in line with what I had found. The bow is consistant from one unit to the next. That speaks to the people behind the scenes.

Jerry,

Yes, we do agree on some of the potential improvements on the bow. I think they could only make the bow better. But then again I could be wrong. Who would want a 325 fps bow with a nice sized valley....[]

ijimmy,

I never had a problem with the Trophy Ridge sight though I don' t currently have it installed on any of my bows for the moment. I am playing with a few different ones just to see what works best for me. I seem to have some problem working with those vertical pin sights...being a gap shooter and all...

Antler Eater,

That my friend is a good question. I really like the bow but because of the minor " issues" that I had with the bow I think I am going to keep looking.

Nice report Frank....as usual bud.

I got mine a few days ago and got down to shooting it last night......my findings next week or so when I get my new computer up and running. I will

One question......... I looked but couldn' t find where you factored in speed reduction due to the " Shurz a Peep" ? That might put you over the edge right there.

Just some preliminary numbers for you on mine.........I scrapped the Hush Puppies and put leeches on right away. The only other thing on the string was a string loop. (Timberline No-Peep)
So with the loop and leeches at an adjusted 70# (Turned it down a bit to get 70#) I got the following speeds.......

472gr CE Terminator Hunter Selects = 289fps
375gr Carbon Impact Fat Shaft 6500 = 319

More to follow soon!
