Rocket Aeroheads Ultimate Steel
ok guys i have been reading up on these broadheads and all the post i have read say they have a 7/8 cutting diameter.. well i was just looking on cabelas and it says on there they have a 1 in cut diameter. so here is my question did rocket change the broadhead this year? if so did they fix the problem of the blades falling off? how many of you guys have tested this head and what did you think of it?

I believe when 5shot tested these heads he found that the blades had a bad tendecy of coming off when shot into anything substantial. I don't know if Rocket has done anything since to rectify the problem.
I know someone that tried them and I wasn't impressed at all with them. To small of a profile and it doesn't look like it would do very much tissue damage(wound channel). I think for dangerous game or Moose you would be better served by a stronger 2 or 3 blade that was cut on contact. Magnus, Phantom, Steelforce and G5-Monotec would probably be better choices.

Cabelas does not have the right diameter for these heads in their catalogs or website. It says 7/8" right on the pack. If Rocket ever increases the cutting diameter to 1 1/8" and resolves the blade retention problem (perceived or actual), these will be great broadheads.

Cutting diameter is 7/8". they are a super accurate fixed blade head, but I had problems with blades breaking and falling out on the tire and steel drum tests. As they are right now I really can't recomend them to anyone. That said rocket does make some excellent broadheads that do preform well.

I think everybody else may be right about the cutting diameter.
As for the tuning, I am having my pro shop do that. They use the hooter shooter from spot hogg. After they are done, every arrow hits the same hole (even with broadheads). It is great deal.

I can't recommend them either. My test results mirrored 5 shots.
I did take a decent buck with the head on one of my hunts this year and it did stay together albeit didn't hit any ribs. A double lung hit and the animal went around 110 yards with almost no blood trail. The wound channel reminded me more of a gun's than a bow due to the fact the hole was so small. In fairness to the head I should say that the hit was a little higher than I would have liked it to been.
I can guarantee you would never catch me hunting a grizzly with one.Until they make the head more reliable I wouldn't hunt anything bigger than a deer with it.
