Default Looking to buy new bow. Advice please.

New member here. I am looking for some expert advice on buying a new bow. My current bow is so old I am ashamed to tell you the age & brand. I am looking for an accurate and fairly fast bow at a middle of the road price ($500-$600). I am not interested in competition or target shooting, just a reliable deer killin' bow. Any thoughts? I have been advised by friends that Ross and Bowtech make great bows. Thanks.

Wv i laughed when i read you were ashamed about telling the age of your old bow thats exactely how i felt. I was shooting a fred bear vapor 300 before i upgraded to the ross cardiac.

My advice shoot as many new bows as you can get your hands on. If you are trying to bring the whole package in around 500-600 then take a good look at the martin bengal you should be able to get the bow with all your accessories and arrows for well within your price range good luck.

There are many excellent bows in your price range. I would take a serious look at the Bowtech Tomkat pkg, Reflex and Bear bows.

I agree that you should go and shoot as many bows as you can!! I personally am a Hoyt kind of guy and IMO they are the best on the market and are fairly priced!!

I second the Tomkat package, nice bow for the $ and ready to hunt.

I just found myself in the same situation you are in. I purchased a Hoyt and simply love the way it feels and shoots. As such I have no real regrets, but I did not get a chance to shoot the Black Ice (I have it on goodauthority that it is an awesome bow), or the Bowtech bows. I really wish I had. A young man I shoot with justpurchased a Bear Truth and loves it. I read lots of good things about the Ross bows. The point of all that is the folks that are recommending to get your hands on as many bows as is possible are RIGHT! You should love your impending journey!!

Throw another vote in for the Diamond lineup of bows. They are basically Bowtech's mail order line with some models that offer top end performance for a hundred to two hundred less than many top end models. The Black Ice, previously suggested, would be an excellent choice but it is priced just a hair above your price range. The Diamond Liberty and Justice would fit nicely into your price range, have an exceptionally smooth draw while still producing fast arrow speeds and excellent accuracy. Two thumbs up on the Diamond lineup this year!
