Has any one used a north starr treestand and how well did you like it. Thanks.

Default RE: feedback on north starr treestands

I have one and just went on a hunt. I used it hard and it did what it's supposed to do. I did some modifications before hunting out of it and will do some more before the next. All except 2 have been removing things I don't need or want. I added a piece of ergo mat to the base to keep my feet warm, reduce noise from moving my feet and reduce noise between the bottom and top while packed. I added 5 bungees for packing it and holding my pack in place while transporting it. I will be cutting the back off the seat. I may miss the comfort but it gets in the way while climbing. I don't use the foot strap either. Just slip my feet under the side rails. It claims to be both a sit and stand and climb, it is best used as a sit and climb. It's adjustibility is a joy. No more do I have to fool around with that aspect and good riddance. I also like the stiffness of the belts. The upper section did get in my way for some tough shots so I, for the most part left it down near the base and just stood. Needs more work on getting quieter, but that is tough to do. It folds flat and there is no room for and kind of padding on the side rail, nor do you want to cover the oblong holes on the side that let you see where the belts are. They have a white end so you know you have them in for safety. The "bear griper" fastening system once you reach your destination height also works very well and I needed some rope to haul game out. I used it. The back pack straps need to be better. Busted a chest buckle.

It's a stand with a lot of potential. Glad I have it.
