Default Very Important Question About Old Bow's 1980's I think

So... I was shooting my fathers old Bear Super Kodiak compound bow the other day and the worst thing happened. I was just about to reach full draw when I heard a loud snap. First thought that ran through my head was can I still see... When I established that I realized that something had broken. The string was still intact and then i looked at the limbs. the wooden limb was cracked an broken beyond belief. It was hard to tell my father because I was headed back to school and had no time to bring it to my local archery shop. I was wondering if anyone knew where I can buy limbs for an old bow like this. I believe he had bought it some time in the 1980's but I am not sure. I found this article on line and I think this is the same bow...

Please let me know if you know where I can buy limbs to replace them. Thank so much.

Hi: I looked at your link/pic. The unfortunate thing is that limbs like that are just not being made today. I would first contact Bear Archery. It is possible that they might have limbs in storage somewhere. The only problem is that the company has changed hands a few times since that bow was made. Still worth a shot. I'm sure you could have custom limbs made for the bow. That will probably be as expensive (or more so) than buying your Dad a replacement used bow. It's too bad this happened to you. I had a Browning Nomad limb do the same thing to me. Wood core limbs just don' t last forever. You should talk to your Dad about what he wants you to do about this. For the same $ as having limbs made, he could have a more modern bow to shoot. Good luck.

Hey Zig I work at an archery shop and we have a bunch of older bows laying around. I'll check to see if we may have some limbs in the shop.
