Which backpack?

RE: Which backpack?
Excellent choice!
I have the Kelty Targhee 900. It's similar exceptmine only has a single shoulder strap. It's a little bigger at 900cu in. and has a pouch and cut out for a hydration bladder. It's perfect for hunting or even a one night trip as it has many loops to tie on extra equipment.

RE: Which backpack?
Ok, first off I don't usually shop at Walmart. But for anyone needing or wanting a very inexpensive backpack that will carry about anything you need from bowhunting deer to even elk, I bought a Fieldline model that is hydration bladder compatible for around $20. I carried my Cabelas Dry Plus jacket and pants, gloves, compass, food, flashlight, knives, a saw, extra socks, hat, batteries for GPS, wet towels and 3 20 oz. waterbottles very comfortably. It features backpack straps of course along with padded waistbelt and sternum strap. I borrowed a Cabelas Alaskan pack/frame from a buddy and kept it in camp in case I needed to pack elkmeat out on my Colorado trip last season. For the money.......the Fieldline was the best thing I found for my needs and surprisingly its pretty durable.

RE: Which backpack?
I bought a large fieldline fanny pack with shoulder straps at WalMart after the season a year ago for $5. It has vertical straps that go around the main compartment. I put the pack on top of my climber and put these vertical straps around the chains of my API to keep the pack from falling off. The pack rides between the V notch and the chains. When I'm ready to climb, I use these same straps to attach the pack to the arm rest of my climber so whatever is in it is accessible to me in the stand if necessary.
