longer bow

I purchased 2 of the05 protecs and love them both. If you like them even longer, you can get the 3000 limbs and should be about 42 inches axle to axle and close to 9 inches of brace height. I will probably get another 06 protec when they come out ,with the 3000 limbs for indoor 3-D.

I really like the longer bows myself. I checked out a Ovation, it is a very nice bow. I talked to the owner of the shop who shoots one in competition. He said it is very accurate but that he couldnt get much speed out of it no matter what he tried. I am currently looking for a bow in the 35 to 38 inch lenght with a bare minimum of 7 inches of brace height. I was leaning toward a Ovation or Bowtech Independence which are both 40 inches and well over the brace height i wanted. Then i saw the ROSS archery CR337 and fell in love with it, it definetly topped my list and will probably be my new bow. The axle to axle is 37 inches, with a 7 1/2 inch brace height, very parallel limbs, long, lightweight riser and larger idler wheel. The president of the company Andy Ross says that he builds bows with the hunter in mind, and built this bow because it had everything that he wanted in a bow. It comes factory with limbsavers, string leeches and custom string. I believe the retail price was in the low 600's about the same as a Mathews. Check them out at www.rossarchery.com

Mj, I also like a longer axle to axle bow. I have a very long draw length and enjoy shooting fingers style. I shoot the Hoyt, ProTec with LX Pro limbs with 47 3/4" axle to axle for hunting and target shooting. You may want to check out the UltraTec before you make a decision. The UltraTec is just a big shorter, but still has substantial brace height and axle to axle with a bit more speed over the longer ProTec.

I have always been a short bow nut since they debuted back with the MQ32. I have owned literally dozens of them. I even plan on using a Diamond Triumph as my primary hunting bow come this fall. However, I saw the appeal of a longer axle to axle length model last year while shooting my Pro40 Freedom. Superb accuracy and alot more forgiving of shooting errors. That is one reason I opted for an Old Glory as my 3D for this year. Though I call it a 3D bow it is still set up with a typical bowhunting setup minus a slightly heavier and longer stabilizer as well as slightly lighter arrows. Great shooter with alot of accuracy and forgiveness. The speed is very respectable as well.
