Getting started bowfishing!?
#13
I've been bowfishing forever and a day. I have shot every bow and real combo out there and this is what I carry now...
Recurve (I'll NEVER use a compund bowfishing!) 45# Kodiak Magnum 48"
Muzzy Reel (love it)
Muzzy Reel seat (only one thee is, DON'T GO CHEAP HERE!)
150lb tourny line...200 is stronger, but you can't fit much on any reel
white fibergalss arrows with no flecthing
muzzy classic carp or gar points, depending on what you're shooting.
After all the junk I have tried over the years I have had 0 issues with this rig, except my unexplained inability to shoot it straigh on occasion...GOOD LUCK!

I would try to get a used bow at about 40 pounds...Don't buy anything other than a retreiver for the reel. All other rigs will give you too much drag with the light poundage. Use a Muzzy or Stingeree tip on your glass arrows. Good luck young one! I'm proud of you. I started bowfishing at your age and I'm 33 now...enjoy your free time to take fish daily...when you get older you'll be lucky to make it out twice per year...have fun and aim low! Also - Take alot of picture of your fish...Savor those memories.
