Can anyone give me any feedback on the Encore with a 300 mag barrel or any rifle barrel for that matter? How is the accuracy, trigger pull, etc.

i have the 50 cal black powder and a 270 win barrel, but i don't hunt with neither . I gave it a good try but i just don't like it ,the trigger guard will work on your back when slung ,it's not to heavy and feels good but i just don't like it as much as i thought i would .Glad it was a freebe ,my six year old son has claimed it so maybe it will work for him in the future.

BM the Encore centerfires I have used were danged fine guns. Some shoot less than 1" groups and most shot 1.5-2" groups @ 100yds. I think to many folks are worried about 100yd groups instead of being able to put a bullet in the kill zone at whatever yardage you want to. If you can put the bullet in a lung @ 300yds consistently, who cares what the thing "prints"? For comfort (shooting wise) IMHO there is NO OTHER! The Encore is truly a "ambidextrous thumbhole rifle". I like to shoot off both shoulders as it makes it much easier to shoot from a tree-stand. Once you get over the mental aspect of doing it that way (most of the time those who say it cant be done have actually never tried it!) you will see its quite easy and certainly more effective. Add in the fact that with its deep drop stock you basically have the EXTREMELY comfortable and more natural grip position like that of a thumbhole. And not that its a concern with a 7mm/300mag in the Encore, but when you get your hand down and behind the pistol grip area of the stock you are really able to cut the recoil down.

FINE guns,
RA

ps
Oh yeah, trigger wise being a hammer gun they typically are very comfortable and light. More so than the typical bolt gun trigger set heavy for liability reasons. I dont remember ever testing one on a scale but just by pull I would say most Encore's are in the 3-4# range.

I guess you can figure by my screen-name how I feel about T/C's. I have rifle barrels in .308, 22-250 and the 209X45 BP barrel for my Encore frames(I use one frame for "long" barrels and the other for pistol-lenth barrels). The 308 and 22-250 will shoot sub MOA and the bp will hover around an inch. I sent both frames off for an action job, so I can't say what the trigger pull is on a factory Encore, but like RA said, I'd say that its in the 4lb range. I also hunt out of a treestand and shoot right or left-handed, so an ambidextrous gun is a must for me. They're light and come to shoulder as good as anything I've picked up. I'll agree with little-d, the trigger-spur will dig into your back while packing, but like I said, I treestand hunt, so I'm usually packing a stand on my back and the gun is carried in hand. Another thing to keep in mind is the versatility of it. You can get just about ANY caliber/guage etc your wallet will allow. And I personally think hunting with a single-shot will make you a better hunter. If you've got only one shot, you know that you need to make that one shot count. And, no matter how many different barrels you have, you'll always be pulling the same trigger and I think that should also make you a better shooter. I could go on, but I guess thats about enough for now.lol This just my .02 on how I feel personally. But in the end, it'll be YOU dropping the cash, so do all the research you can and if you can borrow one or rent one to try out, do it. Then you can judge for yourself of they're right for you or not. Good luck.

The feedback in posts I've read the last two years indicates the most happiness with the .308
