I don't understand the problems we have with loading sabots, like TC Shockwaves vs Powerbelts, and everything else in between. If a projectile, made for a .50 cal, loads in one gun, it should load in any .50 cal. You don't see this kind of "leeway" in barrels in centerfire rifles, do you? I don't have to pound different 30.06 shells into my rifle.[>:] These companies must be aware of this, don't they care? I mean, a .50 cal barrel is a .50 cal barrel!

It is interesting that Hornady will sell you a go-nogo gage to determine if your bore size is acceptable for their SST sabots (.500" - .502"). You don't see much call for barrel gages in the world of CF's but Hornady seems to think there is enough of a demand that they are marketing them.

Hornady's marketing of the Go/No-Go set must be in answer to loading complaints. But heck, it would be cheaper to buy a bag of 2 or 3 different brand of sabots to try - but to each his own.
But Mike, you're right.................there really ISN'T a standard for muzzleloading barrels. The Green Mountain barrel on my Knight measures .500" between the lands and .504" between the grooves. Funny thing, those SST's are very TIGHT in my bore, and yet the gauge set would say all is well.......................I guess it's ok as long as it isn't THEM that are giving themselves hernias trying to load the gun. [:@] But, the 300gr SSTs do shoot REALLY well out of theat rifle.
