Has any of you ever shot a mule deer with a 200 gr. (black powder) bullet. How did it perform. I have put several down with 300 gr. or larger with good results. I am shooting an Omega 45 cal. with 120 gr. triple 7 and a 200 gr. T/C shock wave. Five shot groups are 1 inch or less at 100 yds. and I can not find a heavier bullet that will perform this well. But if it will not do a good job, I will give up some accuracy for a bullet that will.

if it shoots that good use it and dont worry about it. A 200 grainer with 120 grains of trip seven behind it should have a muzzle velocity over 2000 fps thats as good as any 35 remington a very well known mule deer cartridge. you should easily have enough gun there for even a 200 yard shot. where will you be hunting? good luck hope you bag one.

Headed to New Mexico. Been going there black powder hunting for 20 yrs. off & on. Shot a few deer there, nothing real big, best one was a 23" 4X4. I hear that after this year they will go to a drawing for tags, so this will probably be the last hunt. It's been fun!

Those 200 gr. T/C shockwaves are great shooting bullets. I have never had as much success with any other bullet than I have with them. I have absolutely no complaints for them. I have shot deer with them and believe they are the best bullet out there. I think you won't have any problems with them on the muley's. I would trust mine on elk within 125 yds. Good luck on your hunt.
