.32 caliber T/C accuracy problems
#1
I have a T/C .32 and am having problems getting it to shoot consistently. My brother has the same rifle and is also having problems. The sights on the two rifles are of different styles but the problems are the same. You can put two rounds almost in the same hole (30 yds. from a bench) then the next three will be all over the paper. Using Bore Butter, swab frequently, patch is of correct size and using Goex FFFg . We have tried various loads between 30 and 40 gr. with no significant difference in result also have tried both round balls and Buffalo bullet, mini balls. My brother has been a Gun Smith for 25 years and shoots a number of other BP rifles including flints without this problem, I also have a number of BP rifles and no problems. Has anybody had similar experiences with T?C rifles of .32 caliber and accuracy problems?

WOW.. that is strange. If your using the same charge, patch, and method of loading and swabbing you would think they would shoot the same way.
Have you ever noticed that the barrel gets hot? I am not saying that is the cause, but I have one rifle that if you shoot and do not give the barrel a chance to cool down between shots, it will sometimes start to spread the group on you.
Other then that the .32 caliber Cherokee was known to be an excellent shooter. I could see this happening if you were not swabbing good between shots because the .32 caliber being a smaller bore has a tendency to fowl up much faster then the larger bore barrels.
I hope you figure this out. It will be interesting to learn the reason.

cayugad, Thanks for the reply, this has both of us stumped. Barrel heating shouldn't be a problem as there is usually at least several minutes between shots and many times more.
