I'm planning on ordering either the .40 caliber 240 grain or the .44 caliber 260 grain Dead Centers for my TC Omega. www.bpbullets.com has a good price on the 12 packs and you can email him with questions. Super helpful site even if you don't buy the bullets.

Well,
You never know what's gonna work best until you try 'em, but in my Knight USAK I've found that the 340gr DCs give me the best groups (1 MOA). However, I get as good or better groups using the 350gr QTs & Extremes as well......... and 1/2 MOA groups with the 300gr QTs. I've tried the 300gr DCs and have not found a load the gun likes with them.
Haven't hunted with the DCs...........but the Extremes & QTs have been devastating on game .

220 grain .40 dead center or 300 grain .44 dead center. Start with the 220. It is hard to beat in the Knights, JMHO.

I have recently purchased .40 caliber 200gr DC's and 240gr. I haven't shot them yet but I can't wait. I e-mailed Precision Rifle yesterday with a question and Cecil Epp e-mailed me an answer back today. I plan on shooting somewhere between 100-120gr of Triple 7 with them in a CVA and a New Frontier Beartooth Magnum.

Knight rifle barrels are overbore in comparison to CVA, Traditions, Remington, Thompson, Winchester, Austin-Halleck... etc.

In my opinion, Knight, Hornady & Barnes sabot bullets perform best in your rifle because of their thicker-designed plastic sabots. I don't understand/comprehend why Cecil Epp over at Precision Bullet Co has not introduced a bullet package designed specifically for Knight & White overbore rifles. Powerbelt Inc was the first to introduce this concept.... others should follow suit as well.

There are situations where some Knights will shoot Precision sabot/bullet combos well, but to the best of my knowledge -- from what I've read on blackpowder/muzzleloading forum homes across this country -- those Knights that do shoot Precision bullets well at 100 yards & beyond are of the minority... not majority.

O2Be,

I shoot a .50 disc extreme. I sent Cecil an email asking which rounds to use for out to 125yds in WI for whitetail. He emailed me back the next day and suggested 330 grain extreme or 250 grain dead center. He said at that distance I didn't need to use the more expensive dead center and could save cash with the extreme.

I have only shot at 50yds and used the dead center. At 50 the bullets are in the same hole w/ 100 grains loose triple 7. The big factor in making my groups tighter was adding a red dot. I had problems with that and ordered a holo sight.

When my holosight comes in (late feb) I am going to test a lot of rounds. I have the powerbelts, dead center, extremes, Knight red hots, and the Hornady. I will be shooting at 100yds next time and will have a better idea what i'm going to use in 04. I did shoot one from approx. 15yds with the dead center and it wasn't a pass through. I know this may be better than a pass through because the energy destroys the insides, however, I like a good blood trail which was pretty much non existant.

I'm currious cybersniper. Where did you hit your deer and what load were you using? I shot one this year at 60 yards with a Dead Center .357 175 grain using 115 grains 777 ffg, in my TC Omega .45 and put a hole in it you could stick a beer can in. Since it was angling away from me the bullet went in through the rib cage and lodged in the far front shoulder. It was running when I hit it, so it ran another 50 yards or so and dropped. It left a blood trail a blind man could have followed, starting from right where I hit him. I have shot a lot of deer with other bullets and none of them have left this kind of blood.

BP,

I hit it broadside just behind the front shoulder. The bullet penetrated through both sides and came to rest between the rib cage and the skin. I recovered the bullet and will weigh it to see what it lost.

If you look back at the posts in the blackpowder there was a long thread on the same thing. It seems most guys shooting less than 300 grain are not getting pass through shots.

The thread started at the end of December before you were a member. In the search field at the top of the page typy in "pass through" and search in black powder. It appears from the threads these lighter bullets are designed for the inner shock, not the pass through.

I hit another 8pt buck with a 250 dead center from approx. 20 yds and that also did not pass through, however, both deer were recovered. If you read the threads let me know what you think. I was very suprised that the rounds didn't go through but it appears to be more common than pass through shots when it comes to muzzleloaders with light rounds.
