RE: which dead center bullet for my disc rifle?

I hit it broadside just behind the front shoulder. The bullet penetrated through both sides and came to rest between the rib cage and the skin. I recovered the bullet and will weigh it to see what it lost.
If you look back at the posts in the blackpowder there was a long thread on the same thing. It seems most guys shooting less than 300 grain are not getting pass through shots.
The thread started at the end of December before you were a member. In the search field at the top of the page typy in "pass through" and search in black powder. It appears from the threads these lighter bullets are designed for the inner shock, not the pass through.
I hit another 8pt buck with a 250 dead center from approx. 20 yds and that also did not pass through, however, both deer were recovered. If you read the threads let me know what you think. I was very suprised that the rounds didn't go through but it appears to be more common than pass through shots when it comes to muzzleloaders with light rounds.
