I installed the 209 conversion kit in my 50 cal Remington 700ML. I know the manual say to install the breech plug until the rear is even with the front edge of the ejection port. I have always done this, but now with the 209 nipple installed, the bolt assembly slides over the primer and nipple just a tad. Is this ok? There are plenty of threads left on the breech plug so I can go further. If so, how much room should I leave between the bolt and primer?

I have always tightened my breech and nipple down and never had a problem with doing so in misfire or accuracy. This year I too did the 209 conversion kit and while it is closer to the bolt assembly I can see some daylight(again she is tightened right down and never had any issues).

Thanks guys. I called Remington today and was told to seat the breech plug all the way. I got tired of worrying whether the gun was going to fire with the percussion caps. I think that problem is fixed now. There is a worlds difference in the 209 primers.
