Default Omega advice needed ....... scope question..

I recently purchased a .50 cal Omega ... laminate stock. I put the T/C encore/omega mount on it and purchased a Leupold 3x9x40mm matte scope ..... I wanted to have the option of still using the fixed sites so the gunsmith I got this from used the new Leupold High quick-release rings .... problem is ...... the scope doesnt clear the rear site .... and the eye releif isnt quite where I would like it ... the scope should be forward atleast an inch ....... he gave me the pitch initially of " oh well ... you' ll be wearing heavy clothes when you use it etc etc ...." ..... welll .... I' m back from my first range test and I have a nice cut on my forehead to show for it ....... does anyome know of a hi-quality ' super-high' ring-set I can use that is quick-release .... I dont thing Leupold makes one ...... Thanks in advance guys ..... bringing this out to pike-county first week of december .....

Leupold does make super high QRs -

At Brownell' s 526-517-150 1" Super High Matte Blue $35.20

http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/sto...QUICK-RELEASE? MOUNT SYSTEM

but I don' t know if that will solve your problem of scope-eye. Might make it worse unless that height also allows you to move the scope forward.

Hope they work for you.

Underclocked .... thanks very much for the response ..... in looking at Brownells ..... this is the Leupold setup I have: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/sto...26+BASE+SYSTEM
This is the cross-slot mounted QRW ring-set ...... I should have been more specific in my initial description ....... if I could find some rings that would fit this type of base that are ' super-high' ..... just another 1/8th on an inch additional height would allow me to move the scope forward and avoid these headaches .... literally ....

I had the same problem -- same cut! I went to high see-thru rings, a shorter/more eye relief (5" ) Simmons Pro Hunter 4X scope & removed the original recoil pad & replaced it with a 1-1/4" thick Sims pad.

No more blood plus the Omega' s short stock felt better to shoulder & find my sights after replacing that thin recoil pad with a fatter one.

They have the Weaver Grand Slams in extra high (also the price is extra high).

You might look elsewhere for a better price. Allabouthunting has them in the 40s but they are out of the extra high.
