Simmons Prohunter Pistol Scope for .308 advice needed
I FINALLY have placed an order for a Savage Striker in .308 and am looking for a scope to put on it. I hate to go cheap, but the Simmons Prohunter line-up is sure looking tempting when compared to what few other pistol scopes are out there.
Does anyone have any advice concerning the Simmons Prohunter pistol scopes?
Brand aside, should I go with a fixed 4x w/ a 15 ft fov at 100yds
or a 2x-6x with a 12.2-4.2ft fov at 100yds?
Any advice is appreciated, thx.

RE: Simmons Prohunter Pistol Scope for .308 advice needed
i use pro hunters on a .44 mag and also on a ruger super-six .22. i like the 2-6. on deer i usually like about a 4 power. but for squirrels with the super-six i use 6 power almost all the time. it is very nice to have the option to zoom in or out a little. there are times when a little adjustment in or out fits the shot perfect. i alway use shooting sticks with these pistols. the sticks make a huge differance when shooting on the higher powers. eye relief on six power is a little touchy but you will get use to that in short order. overall they are pretty good scopes. i would not hesitate to buy another and i have had no problems at all.

Sounds good to me.
I've got a fixed 2x tasco on a .44mag, but feel that's just too low a zoom for a .308.
A 2-6x should work nicely.
The only reason I was considering the fixed 4x was the larger field of view at 100 yards.
The eye relief is also more adjustable on the 4x being 11.8-17.6".
The eye relief on the 2-6x is 16".
I guess as long as I keep the reciept (cabelas) I can return one if it doesn't work out.
