I am merticulous as d. Winsor with my sidelock. However, the other thing that makes BH 209 valuable to me is that it is really a smokeless powder diluted down to regular blackpowder pressures. But with my two stainless guns I use it in, I never worry about cleaning it even if I can't get to it for several weeks. So far zero rust problems but have heard of others where they thought it did rust. More humid areas or stainless barrel maybe? But it works for me. In fact, the last time I used it in Colorado in a week of hunting, occasionally misty conditions. Shot it at the middle and end of the week, and when I headed home, I just ran a couple of dry patches down it. I think I cleaned it at the end of the week after I got home. No rust. So to each his own, but that is why I like it and use it: no swabbing and very little rust problems.

I don't know.

I contacted the Blackhorn 209 site once and asked them how long I could leave my gun uncleaned after shooting it, they told me to clean it as soon as I could as bh 209 was mildly corrosive.

It does because it contains Potassium and Sulpher in a very minimal amount. They needed to have these in to qualify as a Black Powder Sub.

The corrosion does not happen in a short period of time and only occurs if there is water moisture in contact with the powder residue.

I think we all take great time and effort to keep the bores dry while in use and in storage the bore is cleaned of residue and treated to prevent common rusting.

Well if you haven't tested it, then it sounds like an admission of guilt, that you shoot every week or every other week.

In post 53, evidently Western told you to clean the rifle immediately after shooting it (BH).

It contains Pott. and sulfur, although minimal and its included to give it a "substitute" class.

In post 54, the poster hinted/implied/suggested/etc. that Western might be CYA. C........ cover............ Y..... your............. A as$.

It might mean that Western is telling you and/or others, to clean the rifle immediately after shooting, so they don't get blamed for a corroded rifle barrel.
