Another Blown Muzzleloader

That's EXACTLY why they should have NEVER introduced smokeless powders into muzzleloading. There are just WAAAAAY too many idiots out there to be able to make the sport idiot proof. For those of you who own smokeless powder muzzy's... I'm happy for you that you're still shooting and enjoying them. Personally, I think they should be banned and pulled off the racks wherever they're available. You wanna shoot smokeless powder, buy a centerfire rifle and keep smokeless powders out of the realm of muzzleloading...PERIOD.
Hopefully the moron that did this doesn't hire some high dollar lawyer that launches a campaign to eliminate all muzzleloading firearms because it's "too easy to get confused as to what powders can or cannot be used". And if it happens, a big thanks to all of you who support smokeless powders in muzzleloading firearms!!

People kill people with cars everyday because they dont know how to use them correctly. You wanna burn gasoline and diesel, do it on public transportation.
I hope they ban them all.

Some folks are just accident prone, I saw it many times growing up in a Deere dealership and later working for them...These same types climb without using a safety harness...No need to ban smokeless, we have too much government as it is...

Some smokeless powders create less pressure then current black powder substitutes when used properly. As I can see in the picture it looks like a Maxihunter bullet. A full bore conical is not recommended to use with smokeless powders and BH209 for that matter.
Im not a fan at all of full bore conicals in muzzleloaders. That's pretty much why ive never got really excited about sabotless bullets. When using sabots it provides another safety factor for stupidity. The sabot will blow and release the pressure around the bullet. When shooting sabotless or conicals you don't have that extra safety. When the gun is double loaded or whatever theres no place for the pressure to release so you blow the gun up.
This guy is very lucky to of only lost two fingers. Im very happy to see the breech plug is still in place and the plunger. And I firmly believe you could do this same thing with any powder not just smokeless powder. That's why everyone should use a load mark on your ramrod to avoid any kind of double loading or mishaps like this.

I have no idea why you are minimizing stupidity. It doesn't matter if you can blow up a muzzle loader with black powder, If you do not load it properly, too much powder, an air space between the powder and the projectile etc. There is no way to load that particular rifle properly with smokeless powder, it wasn't made for that. This incident was through stupidity or carelessness. If you use something contrary to the intended use, unintended consequences are probable. The manufacturers tell you quite clearly not to use smokeless powder in their produce if it was not meant for smokeless powder. As far as your statement," Some smokeless powders create less pressure then current black powder substitutes when used properly", there is no proper way to use smokeless powder in a black powder or black powder substitute gun.

Better ban 223s too

And TITEGroup because the bottle looks too much like Varget.

This is what happened when TITEGroup was used instead of Varget.

While we are at it, lets get all MLs under SAAMI regulations. If a company claims their ML can shoot a 300gr bullet with 3 pellet load, they should be required to be proofed to handle that load.
Whats the standard SAAMI proof load anyway, 30% over max....44% over max? IIRC the CIP in Europe requires a 25%-30% over max proof loads for firearms. Do you realize how much PSI a 4 pellet load can make?
Well over 40Kpsi.

You do know people blow up center fire rifles as well? For that matter people also blow up black powder guns with black powder by double loading them. Looks like we should just ban all guns.
