Default need some help with black powder

I've have a 45cal Hawkins the trouble is that it hit 6" high at 50 yard and the back sight is all the way down. I'm using 60 grain of Hodgdon pyrodex FFG with a .445 lead round ball. What can I do to bring it down.

Taller front sight. 6 o'clock hold.

Are you holding the front sight as low as you can on the rear sight? (sight picture)

Measure from the top flat on the barrel to the top of the sight.

What make is your Hawken? Looks like a TC.

These guys should have a sight for you.

No, they don't. The link I gave you is not TC. TC wouldn't have had a taller sight anyway.

I measure my front sight and it is 3/8" tall I call the Track of the Wolf people and they said the sight they have are shorter then one I have. But they said I can file the back sight down. What do you think.

You could try to file the notch deeper in the rear sight if you have enough metal.

I'm surprised TOW doesn't have a taller sight?

Before you do anything. Do you have your hunting load all worked out? No sense messing with sights until you have the load you want. It doesn't matter if it shoots high when you're developing a load. As long as it groups good you can move the sights later.

Try Williams sight company. And FYI the sight is measured from the bottom of the dovetail to the top of the sight, not from the flat on the barrel.
I am pretty sure that Williams makes a fiber optic front sight for the T/C's 3/8" dovetail that measures .590" that should work out for you.

Really? Makes no sense. I've seen some dovetails deeper than others.

Another thing that isn't standardized in muzzleloaders
