I am not sure anything has been decided yet @ Knight anyway. They have in the past been pretty conservative so jumping to the 1-20 might be somewhat risky. At this point I hope they do but that certainly is not going to turn the world upside down.

Heck a lot of us wanted Knight to offer the 50 in 1-24 also - and you can see that did not happen...

Only time will tell.

Just like the.52, who wants to be locked into almost having to buy your bullets from one source? Sounds like a way to charge whatever you want for the bullets, once you convince someone to buy the rifle. I will pass....
Why do you have to buy bullets from one source? Anyone that makes 458 or 475 bullets can provide bullets. And as long as the 45-70's hang around there will be companies makeing .458's.

One of the better bullets that I shoot a lot of from my 52 is made by Sierra. Barnes makes some really decent .458's. Speer makes a couple of good ones also. In fact I think most bullet companies even bullet companies you do not normally here of produces .458 bullets.

I wasn't referring to current day offerings but more of when knight first come out with the .52. If I remember correctly and I may not be, there were very few choices on bullets and or sabots.

Same would be the case now, if they bring the. 45 with a 1:20 twist very few choices in buying bullets.

I was told these were coming out in May, kinda need to be deciding what twist they are going to, shouldn't they. Or is it going to be like last year, come out in the spring but none are shipping till August?

Im not sure why you would think a 1-20 would limit your bullet selection unless you want to shoot sub 180gr bullets at game???? The lighter bullets should still shoot fine with target loads that still beat 10mm performance levels.

A 1-20 shoots the Barnes 195, 200gr XTP and 200gr SST just fine. Those are the main 40cal bullets people currently use even in smokeless 45cals. Plus the faster twist should help if you want to buy longer/heavier bullets. 400gr+ conicals will likely benefit also and there are plenty of 458 molds to make you own heavy weights.

The bullets have always been there. Today Nosler has dropped out of the .458 Partition market (still has a 500 grain partition) but in away Lehigh has filled that niche somewhat - granted from Knight only.

In the old days and currently Knight is the only outlet for sabots and I believe you are right back in history you culd not just buy the sabots from them. Today you can and I do not see that changing anytime soon.

Same would be the case now, if they bring the. 45 with a 1:20 twist very few choices in buying bullets.
I think I disagree with that also, Barnes and other companies offer 40 cal bullets, premium and other quality.

My next shooting session will be with a variety non-premium bullets like the XTP-Gold Dot-Seirra regular run of the mill bullets to see how they shoot. I think that is importantant information. Tom has shot Barnes 175 grain bullets but those are still longer the the run of the mill XTP or Speer. Also Sqezer has shot 40-200 Shockwaves with great success from the 1-20.

I was told these were coming out in May, kinda need to be deciding what twist they are going to, shouldn't they. Or is it going to be like last year, come out in the spring but none are shipping till August?
I think may be a the target date for introduction of a 45 cal - I am not sure and I also am not sure how they will handle the purchasing or shipping.

I am headed to Kennewick today for a few days, plan on picking up some regular 10 mil/40 cal bullets at Sportsmans. - any specific weight some one would like to know about. I have ordinary 40-200's and 40-180's

Exactly, and in May

besides that you and SL are the board inside men, for anything Knight or lehigh. I thought you owned them for as much as you brag about you designing and them making bullets for you to shoot.
