as you mentioned earlier the .45 cal folks are not interested in the 155-180 gr offerings.
See, I agree with you, Grouse, and GM54-120 on this subject, but who are we to decided for everyone that they do not want this option?

Everytime you make a decision like this it comes around and bites ya..

Somewhere in time and history - It bothered enough that they could not shoot these to cause a shift in industry standard of the time.

Now remember I have not shot them at all and I am just making a general statement... but that .357-158 grain Speer Gold Dot SP - looks like it would be great for Yotes and squirrels!!!

The hands down best twist is a gain twist. From 1 in 40 to 1 in 20 would be Ideal, but 1 in 40 to 1 in 24 would be more suited to the general market where bullets are concerned.

Lol,no one said they can't shoot the 155 gr bullets(folks do)theres just a lot more interest in the heavier bullets.another problem with the .357 is lack of sabots.

The only way a Knight 45 will be out in the spring is if it has a 1/30 twist. I really believe that to be true.

Lee, I have no experience with a gain twist. Are most modern rifling shops able to do this? How much do you think a gain twist would add to the cost of a barrel?

Another OK...

This is the collection of bullets that i have collected to be shot from the 1-20...

I have already shot all the Lehigh offerings, so those will not be re-shot on the next outing. But all the rest will be shot with one powder load just to see what they will do.

With your knowledge and back ground - you probably absolutely correct, but I really do not see a manufacturer doing that sort of barrel.

The 45 market is so limited and so very competitive the addition costs of building and marketing would probably drive way back on the back burner...

What is the need of the 1-40 portion of the twist? I was thinking from past discussion it was to reduce the torque and slip of the bullet in the sabot and bore. From my shooting experiance the other day with the MMP sabots I did not feel any of this happend. The collected sabots looked just like they had been shot from my 1-30 and the accuracy was really good - for me at least.

Mike. i am really disappointed that you don't have one of the best selling and accurate bullets in that collection, which is extremely popular with the 1;28 & 1:30 sub crowd and the smokeless folks..i am sure someone on the board would be very happy to send you a few.come to think of it i have never seen you test a Barnes bullet of any kind..

The 175 and 195 Barnes shoot great. I actually did most of my testing with the light weight Barnes. Performance on game has been really bad for me. Barnes i heard thru the grape vine are actually going to try and make that bullet better.

Im pretty sure not positive this is the 195 Barnes in a 1/20 twist.

You are right - i really do not like Barnes bullets - never have. I tried them back in the center fire days from a 300 win mag - it zipped right through, close range shot, on a mule deer,. I can not even remember which one it was, but right after that I switched to Noslers Partitions and never looked back.

I did do some research on the subject and found out that the Nosler Partition will/would expand with a wider range of velocities than Barnes...

The other reason and the real reason is Grouse has already shot the Barnes collection in his testing. No need to repeat. He indicated to me that they shot VERY well from the 1-20
