Wal Mart rips off the shooter by selling a bag of patches here, for $3.95. They claim there are 250 patches. Its nothing more then the ends off a T shirt from some factory they own, with the Winchester name on the bag. But you can cut numerous patches off one "chunk" of their patch.

They used to sell a bag for $1.99 and they were a thicker better deal. But those were discontinued I was told for these new "Winchester" patches. Wal Mart's constant rip off the consumer makes me kind of ill.

I cut them any size I think will fit. After years of cutting my own, I can hack off a chunk and make it work in the rifle. Other wise I use old cotton T shirts of mine. Old cotton socks... and any other thing made of cotton that I can cut up.

+1 for getting plain white cotton flannel by the yard at Wally World or your local fabric store. A cheap roller cutter (also at the fabric store) and 3 yards of fabric, you should be good to go for several years. About 2.5" square or thereabouts works fine.

Thats what I use too... they seem to work pretty good.

Those are really good patches. Gibson's stores sold them until they were driven out of business by China Outlets. China Outlets in Lawton sold them for awhile but no more: All they have now is thin cheap trash made in China.

Went to making my own patches from whatever is around. Am presently using a bag of my worn out socks. The material is thick and it works well.

I use Kleenbore. Pretty pricey at $12.00 for 500.

Several years? You must not shoot much. I use them for my centerfires too, but I'm on my 3rd package of 2 yards in this past year, and I'm about done with it. That said, I do shoot fairly often.

So far that's what I do I buy the 2 yard packs of flannel at Walmart and cut them up. It's the cheapest I've found so far. I normally get white, but One time they had a light yellow on sale and I bought it, and this past time they had pink on clearance so I picked up a thing of it to use. The light yellow worked fine, so I don't see any reason the pink wont. If one of these isn't on sale though I use white.

I've also heard of using t-shirts and I suspect this is cheaper, but I've just never tried it.

I don't shoot as much as some, more than others. One square yard of cloth = about 207 patches ((36/2.5=14.4) x 14.4 = 207.36).

I only shoot BH209 so I only use the patches at the end of my session. 207 patches go a long way.

I agree, use any light color on sale. I draw the line at pink.

I have a bunch of the Military cleaning patches. They work great. When I used BJ Bore polish I used a 50 cal swab. Then I cleaned it with the military patches.
