Default Got a Buck This Evening

Was sitting in a blind watching an area where there are five game trails. Watched 20 wild hogs come down a gully and go into the adjacent property. Those hogs were coming from a big wheatfield at the head of the gully. They were 250 yards away.

At 6:20 pm here came a buck deer i knew well from game camera photos. He was not stopping so i got ready and made a long baaaaaa sound; (thats doe language for "hi there big fella") the deer stopped and i immediately fired. The buck went down in his tracks, kicked for a few seconds and expired.

This was a high behind the shoulder shot, about two inches farther back than i prefer. The bullet shredded the lungs and exited.

At this blind one must put the deer down where it stands. It's less than 100 yards from 640 acres owned by an anti outfit.

Distance: 86 long paces
Attitude: Standing broadside

Gun: TC Encore .50 caliber
Scope: Zeiss 4X32
Powder: 110 grains of Goex 3F Pinnacle
Bullet/Sabot: 250 grain Shockwave/black MMP sabot
Primer: Winchester shotgun

I tell them anti's that I am thankful they feel that way. That way there is a place for deer to grow and breed without disturbance. Then when they grow up and travel outside of home they jump into my freezer.

Good job on the buck!
