Still waiting on the Knight order, So I got out the JB paste and went ahead and stroked the barrel of the 52 Disc Extreme went ahead and ran 50 strokes.Started with the spin jag and thought didnt seem like wasnt tight enough, so switched to the factory jag that came with the gun little better but still seemed to easy!! Then I got to looking seems the patches I ordered are CVA 2 inch patch vs the 2 1/2 inch they should have been. So seems like another issue again so anyhow they seem all full thin. Is there a thickness diiferance between the 2 and 2.5 patch? Are who makes a good nice thick 2.5 patch?

I use t/c 2 1/2 inch round patches and butchs 2 1/2 in square twill patches. The butchs work better in my 52

Jason, they should be 2 1/2 patches... they will work a lot better...

These will be even a bit tighter but with the Spin Jag might be just right...

a great patch material is white flannel you can pick up at just about any Walmart. I cut it into about 1 1/2 - 2" squares and with the proper jag is nice and snug. Now it takes a bit of time to cut a yard of material into these squares. especially if you don't have a roller cutter. I use a steel yardstick, a utility knife and a 1x4 for my cutting surface to cut the material into strips. Then my scissors to cut the strips into squares.

I'll be different. I use square 2 1/4" patches for .50 cal.

I do it about the same as you Bronko. Sometimes my "squares" look kind of funky but they seem to work just fine. I will buy a yard or two of the flannel and cut them into pieces out in the shop when I am having my morning coffee. I get enough patches from a couple yards to last me quite a while.

Like I said seems like a little tighter might have been nice, but I think the 2 inch will work, I hope till I order some more cause come hell or high water as soon as the Knight order shows this Sunday will be smoke day :)

There's a company named Southern Bloomer Manufacturing Company that makes a variety of cleaning patches and muzzle loading patches.
Their .50 cleaning patches measure 2"X2" and come with 500/bag.
Their Universal Rifle-Pistol Cleaning Patches measure 2.5"X2.5" and come with 125/bag.
They also make 3"X3" shotgun patches and many other sizes.

I normally do 2x2 squares.

I like the old army surplus patches, I bought several cases of the the last time I seen them at the army surplus place about 30 years a go. They are thicker than any of the for sale by a company patches I have seen. I think they are just right.
Also many thanks to the person who mentioned the new Elite Hoppes for Blackhorn it is just as good as he said. Sorry did not notice the name. First thing I tried that is better than Hoppes #9 mixed 50/50 with alcohol or Montana X Cowboy.
