Man, I hate it when folks leave charges in.
I used to go estate sales quite a bit. Let me tell you a story. I pick up a T/C sidelock. I take home and check out the barrel. Run some oily patches down the barrel. Of course there is some rust. I even run several dozens strokes of JB's down to smooth out a bit., oil the crap out of it. Take to the range, and pop off a cap as I am supposed to(range rules) Nothing. Pop off another cap, nothing. Take some bore butter down the barrel, and try to swab out primer residue. I taken note that something was wrong when I got no residue. So I pop off another cap but this time at the ground to see of the leaves/dirt would fly(believe it or not, this is range rules also to ensure no double loads). This time it went off and busted up a piece of concrete. The guy who dies left it loaded for who knows how long. I about crapped on myself.

I don't feel like digging it out, but if you search through this forum. You will find some getting rust from leaving loads in.

Even then, and I am shooting T7 so there is a big difference in that and real BP or the Pyros, I shoot what i call a semi-fouled barrel, I never shoot a squeaky clean bore.
My ritual is just prior to the season I will take the rifle out and shoot it 3-5 times to check POI. It comes home I run a couple of windex patches and dry patches, the a very lightly oiled Xtreme patch... dry patch and load the gun up for hunting. It could stay that way for a couple of months before it gets shot.
The ONLY special care it gets is it never comes from a very cold temp to a warm temp. After a day of hunting in the cold it goes in the front seat of the pick-up which is cold and warms slowly on the ride home - then from the truck into the house. The next day the whole process is repeated... over and over again until such time as an animal of my choosing should decide to walk in front of the barrel.

"Rusting the bore is not caused by dry powder"
Are you sure? I've read that APP powder is corrosive in it's unfired form. It's recommended to empty the flask when not being used.
btw..Nobody mentioned T7. So, I thought i'd mention APP.
Water and powder? Like high humidity?
I've noticed a pattern on ML forums. Everybody is an expert.

on it.BP, Pyros, and T7 - it is the burnt powder residue that causes the rusting prombem.
But I do not want to give anybody the impression that T7 is non-corrosive because it is, but far less than BP's or the Pyro's. It is just so easy to take of the residue with windex and a very very light coat of bore protectant...
APP in a flask.... for a long time - that is a bad idea - I do not think it has anything to do with rust or rusting but the ability of APP to suck up moisture and clump and clump and clump.... You would probably have to wash it out with water.
