25 acp users?

Thinking about giving this breech plug a try in my Omega. Does it do the trick for keeping stuff cleaner?
I've already got stuff for centerfire reloading, so that wouldn't be a problem to get started.

If you go with the 25acp you'll never look back... It is far cleaner and very easy to use.
If you are shooting BH-209, it unproven there. I have loaded the 25 acp case with a small rifle magnum primer and shot several loads of BH without a problem, but I have not shot in cold hunting situations... but I would not hesitate to try it. Maybe after hunting season in January I'll run out to the farm and give it a try.

I don't really like cleaning all the crud off of my breechblock face--it's hard to clean without removing the stock. The shallow pockets for 209s don't really help. I figured the length of the 25acp case would help a lot, and since I'd only decap they'd be fireformed and basically last forever (and seal better).
I can probably just get a shellholder and use one of my rifle dies to decap, right? Do you tumble your 25acp brass between uses, or just soak them to get the worst off? Will my threads have less fouling?
I only shoot RS so I'm not concerned with ignition temp. I'm sure a mag primer would be more than enough.

I installed one on my Omega. I'm using T7 and never had a misfire during over 100 shots of testing. Definitely less crude ring. The groups seem to be better with a higher charge.
I've re-primed the .25 cases about 4 times, no trouble, just clean the primer pockets. The info says the cases can be re-primed 15 times safely.
I haven't tried it with BH, but below is an email I received from Don Luhr of Western Powders.

Hi Thom,
Thank you for the e-mail. The 25 ACP conversion doesn't work. If you want to shoot BH209 you will have to go back to the standard 209 breech plug. We get the best results with CCI 209M or Federal 209A primers.

I soak them in white vinegar and water - cleans them up pretty decently...
If you teflon tape your BP and snug it up on the barrel flange your threads will come out very clean... You will need a small brush or a bristle bore brush to pull the teflon out of the threads when you pull your BP...

It's awesome for 777, the two people I know that tried it with BH209 used magnum primers and still did not have 100% reliability.
Yes, clean the cases. I was lax and while I've tumbled mine they have started to get corroded. Now they need pliers for removal sometimes, not good in the field. Of course, they have been loaded 6+ times and are OLD (I was one of the early 25acp converts around 2003 or so).

I'm a convert too - use them in my Mustang and will one day get around to making a 25 ACP plug for the X7.
I have a small wide-mouth pill bottle filled with vinegar in my shooting bag. I just drop the fired cases in it and shake it around a little. They come out pretty darn clean and there's no need to do anything else but dry, de-prime and re-prime them. It seems to work best if you put them in within an hour or so of shooting. Don't leave them in the vinegar more than thirty minutes or so. Too long and they crud up again.

I love the .25 acp breech plug i made for my Encore , No more blow by or carbon build up in the BP . Never had a mis fire and small rifle and pistol primer are showing up everywhere around here . Going to a .25 acp Bp and 777 has given my the best groups i have ever got . I have a 100 brass and around 800 primer now . Well worth the $$$$ to me !!
