Does anybody know what velocity range the gold dot is designed to operate in?

What would you say would be the required velocity for a pass through on deer?

I am shooting the 250's @ 1850 avg. and they hold up very well at that velocity. The actuall velocity of a 45 long colt is well below that though.

Here is the informaton about the 300 that might help...

If you want bullets designed to a higher velocity keep your eye on the new Flex Tip 250 gr it is designed for the Bushmaster at 2200 fps . I dont think you will have any problem with the regular 250gr Gold Dot though I have been having excellant results at a bit over 2000 fps. Lee
