Default T/C Hawken. to buy or not to buy??

I am seriously considering buying a new gun. I am leaning towards a T/C Hawken 50 cal but buying 2 green Mountain barrels to go along with it. One in a 1:70 twist and one in a 1:28 twist. This would give me a nice caplock with lots of versatility as it would have 3 barrels. 1:28;1:48;1:70. What do you guys think? It won't take much encouragement to persuade me . Should I do it?

I've already done exactly that.. only I got a .62 smoothbore also. That makes a very easy to hunt with rifle.

Well the GM barrels go for about $ 225.00 each and a good used Hawken between 250.oo and 400.00 so if the price is right I would jump on it

Yep, 1:28 for sabots, 1:70 for PRB, 1:48 for conicals. Sounds like a good plan to me. Easy to switch barrels with the wedge pin. I would get the 1:70 in a 54.

If you have a .54 round ball barrel, you don't need a saboted barrel...

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,no.

that 1-48 twist will shoot a roundball very good and a conical good too.

i can clover leaf my 1-48 twist at 50 yards with roundball or a powerbelt 295.

i would use money for sling, nice case,

replace sight with a RMC v-peep and have gunsmith mount it right in front of the frizzen.

1-48 twistis all you would ever need.

i bet i can shoot as good as the 1-70 barrel twist with rb at 50 yards.

maybe dave or chap can respond to that because they both may have tested a 1.-70 barrel vrs the 1-48 twist.

with a .018 patch, 1-48 is very good shooter on rb

Well the 1-48 twist will shoot roundball very well. The 1-70 twist in my .58 caliber will shoot a little better. But that's not to say either of them would not be hunting quality. Actually if all your shots are under 100 yards, a .54 in a 1-48 twist will handle the job just fine.
