Well buddy thats a choice that people have to decide for themselves. I dont go as much by size as I do age and how empty my freezer is lol. Here in Arkansas we have a 3 point rule and a 4 point rule in certain parts of the state. Where i hunt its 3 point rule and thats 3 points or more on 1 side. There trying to let the 1 1/2 yr olds grown up a bit. The game and fish has been doing this for about 8 or 9 years now.

Here in Southern Michigan the deer are really overpopulated. I will never judge another hunter, but unless I am going to spend the $600.00 for a should mount, then I am taking a doe. However, I always make exceptions if the animal is injured, bad genetics, etc... The picture below is buck I made an exception for due to the fact that I had him on some trail cameras and wanted him out of the herd last year. The taxidermist aged him at 5 years.

I have to agree - Unless I am on a guided hunt where I am confident on taking a representative animal of the area I will take any legal buck. A trophy is in the eyes of the beholder. I would be just a happy with a "Y" buck (if legal) that I put a good stalk on and killed humanely with one well placed bullet as I would be with a nice 10 point. Especially with a ML. Now, here in PA I have to contain my shots to the minimum 3 point rule in my area. But I will not hesitate to take a mature doe provided I have the proper tag.

I shoot Legal deer, don't worry about the rack size
There is no place that I hunt that is under any kind of QDMA or antler restriction.
If I was to hunt such a place then I would abide by those rules.
I have not killed allot of deer in my life and I am enjoying my recent success,Later in life I may impose certian antler restrictions on myself but that will be MY decision.
If the state i'm hunting in says the deer before me is legal,it just may get a ride in the white jeep.

What is the smallest buck I would shoot???? Well are the spots off? Although them spotted ones are real tender and fit right on a Weber Grill.
I shoot legal deer. The bucks have to measure 3 inches (in the case of a spike longer then your thumb..) or be a fork horn. This is a matter of choice. If there were LOTS of mature bucks in my area, I would pass on some of the smaller ones. If my freezer was empty the first one with legal head gear that walks by is my winter meat supply.

I've shoot a couple a toe heads durring antlerless season, with open sights and shooting 75yds it's real hard to spot those little nubs that don't stick up past the hair, but as long as the antler is less than an inch long it's legal. Besides, you cant eat the antlers can you.
