You better get ALL the hair and hide off before trying to make soup out of those antlers!!

Corey, if the 8-pointers are all that show up and you want a 4, just knock one antler off.

I believe Va has an 1in rule. I am known to be wrong.

In WV one or both horns have to be at least three inches long to be legal. my first deer was a spike and I consider any legal deer a trophy.

I thinks it all your choice, but if there is nothing smaller than an eight in some places that you hunt then try them. my first buck was a 9 point

If it's brown, it's going down!

Seriously, if I have the choice, I would generally shoot does because the meat tends to be better. The smallest buck I've shot (if you don't count a button buck) was a 4-pointer that had a very large body. In Ohio we're only allowed 1 buck per year, so I have let some smaller bucks (spikes or fork-horns) walk during early bow season. But by the time ML season comes around the end of December, I'm taking anything that's legal.
