Traditions Pursuit LT Range Report
#1
Well we took my buddies Pursuit Lt out today and gave it a run. All the saboted bullets (240 XTPs that came with it, 250 gr and 300 gr shockwaves, and 300 gr XTPs with crushed rib sabots) were extremely hard to load. They shot OK but wow, they were tight. Fortunately the most accurate were the 320 gr REAL bullets I casted. And these, although also tight, were easier to load. The rifle put 3 of these into a cloverleaf at 50 yds.
But on another note, this rifle looks like a POS. Before going out, he had to glue the front sight back into place. During the sight in, the rear sight cracked while adjusting it. The bluing looks like my 4 year old grandson did it. And the trigger is horrible.
Still, it seemed to shoot OK. But I'm afraid it won't last long in his gun safe.
I took out my T/C 50 cal percussion GM LRH and shot 3 300 gr shockwaves and 3 300 gr XTPs. Swabbing with a spit patch between shots, all 6 were right where I wanted them with no difference in POI. (2" high at 50 yds.)

I am surprised the triggers are still bad. I had one of the very first ones out and the trigger was so bad I could only pull it three times before my finger was too sore to continue shooting. It shot fair but was such a piece of crap for the quality of the action that I traded it in for a used NEF. I had heard that the bad triggers had been corrected unless you got a very old rifle. I managed to get my trigger down to about 18 pounds before I traded it. I have no idea what the original would have measured (maybe 35 pounds??).

That is a shame.. Quality control I think is as important as great customer service. Nothing makes me more upset then getting a new rifle home, new out of the box, only to find such obvious malfunctions on the rifle that it has to be sent back to the factory for adjustment.
When I find bad fit and finish, or such, it is plain that before that rifle was boxed, noone took the time to put the thing even basically together and try the hammer, trigger, breech plug, hinges, or other such things. If we as consumers notice these flaws in a few moments.. why were they not spotted before I had to go through the expense and trouble to mail it back.
Who actually makes the Remington Genesis? I think Traditions sells a Yukon that is basically the same rifle. I was asked this today while at a friends house, as they saw the add in the Cabela's Christmas Catalog and was thinking presents for the boys..

Maybe an older model LT when they were made crappy? Only handled a few traditions, 2 XLT's and a yukon and they were really nice. They do however need to smooth out their nickel process of the barrels. It was very rough.
