Crazyfarmer,
I only shot 90grs.; is there an advantage to bumping up to 115grs.?
I clean my breechplug with a nylon brush and pipecleaners and Hoppes #9.
I am always unsure if it is clean enough, do you guys have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave
Try 95, 100, 105, 110, 115 and 120 and which ever one produces the best 3 shot group is your "sweet point" with that rifle and bullet combo. Shoot 3 shot groups or 5 shot. I like 5 personally but 3 is ok. Sight the gun in 3" high at 100 and you will be shooting thru a 6" pipe from 0 to 200 yards with that load. You have an accurate easy cleaning gun and you got the right powder.

advantage depends.. if you are shooting a average shot of 0-75 yards then 90graisn works well. If you want to shoot a flatter line out to 125 then 115 would be a little better. More powder will give you more speed, which helps for flatter shooting. My only reason for stepping up to 115 was for more velocity and a good clean kill shot at 125 yards if needed. But with that said 90% of my shots are 15 yards LOL

try it and you might actaully group better also.. seems the sweet spot on most ML'ers is between 90-120

I'm the same way Crazy
I am fanatical about keeping my gun clean.
I just got a breech plug cleaner that looks like an old battery terminal cleaner it works great. It has wire in the inside like a brush.
I also got a thread cleaner for inside the barrel.then some gorilla grease for the install.

With my Encore there is a price to pay for easy loading SST/Shockwave bullets: That price is accuracy. Shockwave Super Glides make 3" and larger groups. The Hornady Low Drag sabots make 2"+ groups andSST bullets in the red and the black tight fitting sabots make 1" groups. The tight fitting sabots are hard to load: But their accuracy is worth it to me.I carry a 2" furniture ball with a hole that goes on the end of the ramrod. That sabot is going to go down the bore.

dunno about the 3inch groups with the superglides but the below picture shows their groups at 100 yards out of the pro hunter with 115grains of BH209
You can actaully put a nickel over the actaul holes(4shots). Hole near the center was just a 50 yard test shot Ive always had excellent grouping with the superglides. Now orginial tight fitting shockwaves grouped 2-3inches but nothing major difference wise.
