Default Shock Wave Super Glides

Tried some T/C Shock Wave Super Glides in my T/C
Triumph this weekend. While I am quite happy with
thier accuracy I was very concerned with how hard they load.
I don"t shoot M/L very often so I'm not real knowledgeable about
this.Years ago I had a T/C Hawken and when seating the bullet I
was taught to sort of throw the ramrod (not actually) down the barrel
untill it bounced of the bullet.I believe that practice is incorrect from what
I read, but that is actually what I had to do to seat the Shock Waves.
Even with a glove on I could not always fully seat the SW to the same spot each time. I was wiping the barrel with a dry patch between each shot. Please help??

If you were using 777 a dry patch will only get stuck and wont do much good any way,try a patch with vinagar windex or a 50/50 mix of alk and windsheild warsher followed by a couple dry patches, OR switch to Black Horn 209 and not have those problems. Lee

Lemoyne,
Yes, I was using Hogdons 777 pellets. I do have some T/C bore cleaner,
would that work also?I am not familiar with Black Horn 209, is that a powder or pellets? The 777 cleans so much easier than powder; how about the BH 209? So, should I clean between every shot? Thanks for your help!!

Your problem was you were shooting on a dirty bore. Get some Windex. Dampen a patch but don't soak it. Then work that down the bore in short strokes from top to bottom using your jag. After that a couple of dry patches.

The Super Glide Sabots you were shooting should have been the easiest of all the combination to load in your rifle.

If you shoot BH209 no swabbing is necessary.

Dave,
One other possibilty to try is the Hornady 250g SST with the Low Drag sabots. They have about the thinnest sabot available in a bullet / sabot package.
They work great in my tight barreled CVA Wolf. Good luck and have fun.

My Blackhorn 209 came in on friday. Was able to shoot on Sat. and
what a differance loading!! No need to clean between shots and no problem seating the SW sabot at all. It did seem to me that I could hold tighter groups if I ran a patch through after several shots although there
certainly was no need to as far as loading!!

glad you fixed the problem The superglides and that BH209 is a good combo, espically at 115grains

Even with the BH209, i would still take the time to clean your ML'er after a good days shooting though. It takes me a whole 5mins tops to competely break down and clean my endeavor. Even though the BH 209 can shoot shot after shot, I still like knowing my breech plug and everything is clean. I clean gun will lasts for years afterall

Whats scarey is I had some friends that never cleaned theirs and they used triple 7. Sabots where a PITA to load and they wondered why their's always missfired or hangfired. Knock on wood, Ive never hada missfire in 14 years using any of my ML'ers

goodluck and happy shooting

Crazyfarmer,
I only shot 90grs.; is there an advantage to bumping up to 115grs.?
I clean my breechplug with a nylon brush and pipecleaners and Hoppes #9.
I am always unsure if it is clean enough, do you guys have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave
