scope base that allows use of iron sights.

i have see throughs on my winchester 30-30 and my remington 7600. never had problems with weakness of the mounts after 100-s of rounds and the stock on some rifles like the remington 7600 allows for you to slide your cheek foward or back to the proper height for use of either site. i prefer the use of the scope mostly but on some rifles the see throughs work just fine.

I agree with nchawkeye. Great advice. If you keep both eyes openyou will be able to track the deer in your scope and make a good shot, even at 5 yards with a 3-9X40.

Big, if you do have a deer close, you can still kill him with a scope...I killed one a few years back with my .243, I had the scope set at 3 power,
the buck sneaked in behind me and I could see his antlers when I looked down between my legs...He walked about 3 steps away from the tree I
was in and I put a CoreLokt in his neck...

Am wonderin' what in the world couldn't be killed at near point blankgawkin' through anM8-6X withboth eyes wide open.
Some folks strive to complicate the simple things.
The fact that close shots with glass deemed by some as impossible, is quite telling, and speaks volumes about off season down rangeround count....
Prolly figured out see thru'sbe thecats azz via sandbags and a bench.
Too funny................

Like a lot of folks, I went through the see-through mount phase. With some guns I had to raise my cheek from the stock to use the things. Now I mount the scope on a good set of rings as close to the receiver as possible. My scopes are mostly four and six power and that is all that is needed. Have never had a problem getting on closerange deer and hogs with a scope.
The M8-6X is now the FXIII 6x42 and I have several. It is a super good scope.

i have several m8 loopys in 4x and that is way too much power at 20 yards never mind a 6x at point blank. unless the scope is mounted front foward like in a scout rifle the iron sights are gonna be way faster to throw up at a deer that gets up close on you.
