Well,I finally got a chance to fire a few shots through the Mustang this
afternoon....All bullets were home cast(Lee Real Bullets) and pan lubed
with bees wax and olive oil..bullets are 257 grain's-Powder was 120 gr.
of Goex 2F-Win.209 primers..Barrel wiped after each shot...
All shooting at 65 yards from laser range finder..Scoped rifle...First 3
were to get the barrel fowled good..7 shoots from bench...Total of
10 shots in all...group size 2.412 inch

Dang johnny, that's a real nice group for REALs with a pretty hefty charge. Good shooting on your part. Ought to be deadly on deer. I like shooting REALs - simple, cheap, and easy loading (target from my Mustang below).

How's the trigger on your Mustang? Mine was the worst trigger I've ever had on a gun until I worked it over.

Trigger is terrible.....I will try the wads you sent me next time I get
it out..I was out back the house shooting and Pat told me I was scaring the dog.

That isn't as dirty as Goex and probably loads easy after each shot..Or am I

johnny2 that is some real good shooting you did there. And with that load, it would do a number on about anything.. nice shooting.

I personally don't find Pyrodex much (or maybe any)cleaner than GOEX. I do know I'd rather clean up a gun that's been shooting GOEX over one that's been shooting Pyrodex.

I've had sucha hard time getting GOEX that I haven't shot it much in the Mustang. I'm in the process of getting a bulk supply and plan to conduct some GOEX/Pyrodex/T7 side-by-side experiments with a couple of different bullets just for grins. GOEX shoots REALs out of my New Englander better than Pyrodex, although at lower velocities.

Lyman doesn't tell you about it in the manual, but there's a trigger adjustment screw on the Mustang. You have to take the stock off to get to it. When you do, there's a red dot on the right side of the frame that is actually a dab of sealer over a very small set screw. Pick out the sealer with a needle. Use a very small Allen wrench (#40 in my Chapman tool set) to turn the set screw in (clockwise) about a half turn at a time. Cock the hammer each time, put the safety ON, an pull the trigger. If the safety still functions properly, take it off safety and pull the trigger to see how it feels. Keep doing that until you get to a point where it FIRES with the safety ON - then back the screw out one full turn and try it a half dozen times to verify the safety is working properly.

I made this adjustment in addition to polishing the trigger-to-hammer contact surfaces. But that's a little more of a ticklish job. You have to be careful of two springs when taking it apart and putting it back together, and it's a bi+ch to get the firing pin* and spring back in place.

*CORRECTION: It's not actually the firing pin, but the hammer spring. It's a spring loaded shaft that goes from a socket in the rear of the frame to a socket in the back of the hammer.

but I had to go move some equiptment...Man,talk about mud,lol

I will do some more testing later this week if the rain holds off.....

I want to try some of the Lyman maxi's as well..When I get them cast up..

Good shooting, especially with a Mustang.
Not trying to be negative, and the Mustang has some good features, but I've yet to hear of really great accuracy from one. I had one and could not find anything to give much better than 3MOA accuracy. Good enough for deer hunting in most situations, but just not up to my personal requirments for an inline.
Mine also had a terrible trigger, but some polishing helped a lot.
