Default Missed a doe today!

Even though I said I was only going to shoot a buck, I shot at a doe and missed this morning. She came out about 50 yards away. I made the mistake of taking a straight on shot instead of letting her turn broadside. I have mixed feelings becasue I was really going to horn hunt but couldn't pass up the opportunity. I am disappointed with my miss as I was 3 for 3 with my Omega up until today. Oh well, you can't hit them all. At least it was a clean miss.

As long as it was a clean miss, you can chalk that up to a smile... I had the sights on a few doe already but never touched the safety. Waiting for horns myself. Good luck next time.

Well don't feel bad, i was in some dark timber and a Doe eased by about 50/55 yds.away. I put the xhair on shoulder and she stepped forward and i followed and pulled trigger. When the smoke cleared she was still feeding, i reloaded in time to see her go into thicket. I went over to the area and searched fer hair n blood, nada zilch! I kept looking and found a small 8" tree with my bullet hole in it!I didn't see it when i pulled the trigger as i followed her when she moved!

Think of it this way - you are still "only going to shoot a buck" .
IMHO there's nothing wrong with shooting a doe AND a buck. They both are legal (assuming you have a tag), some does need to be removed from the herd, and they taste Grrrreat!
Good Luck!

I let the flinter bark today and I did not miss
75 yard shot 90 grains of 3F goex a wad under the patched Rb
the stump did not have a chance dead center
I am at a point to give up for this season :I find as each year passes the deer hunting in N.Y.S. is going down the tube also find it is a dying sport I was out this weekend of thanksgiving and I could remember back when it was loaded with hunters lucky if you see a few guys in the woods these days.
i was out today and seen nothing total 6 days of hunting and 2 small does
We had a total of 3 does tags for my area and not one filled : I threw them in the trash can
I have surgery for next Friday seem they are going to repair to disk in my cervical C5 C6 C7 they are totally gone bone on bone I hope it works out for me .
I think next year deer season i will be heading to North Carolina to hunt they say the deer are a little smaller then
North Eastern deer the only difference you see deer in the woods.

I hunted up in NY State on opening weekend and also last weekend. On opening day I saw 6 bucks in the AM and 2 in the PM, only one that I would have shot at, but he went thru the opening too quick for a shot. Last weekend I hunted Friday afternoon, Sat, Sunday and Monday AM and only saw two deer. Nobody was hunting that weekend. I will be out in Va this weekend, hopefully I will see some deer.
